My media server has a 1 TB drive using TVersity to stream everything. I am using a gigabit connection. (which solved a problem with some etchiness on some high graphic quality stuff) I was planning on having to convert the video to an AVI format, but then i found out that PS3s can play VOB files, and that was good news for me because my goals were 5.1 sound and the highest possible video quality. So i started using a couple different programs to rip to 1 VOB file with NO compression. It worked nicely for a little while, but then i started to run into problems.

First, as I watched the movie, the sound slowly started to get off track, but when i backed out (pressing O) and when went back into the movie (at the resume point) it was back again. To most people an annoying but standable problem, but I am a bit of a perfectionist.

Secondly, I can only back up give or take 1 in 4 VOB movies, the ones that dont work, just say that it is an unsupported file. I use TVersity to stream the media. To try to solve this problem, i installed ffdshow, and that was a like a bombshell on all the movies i saved, none of them would play at all. Luckily i backed them all up and still have the originals.

The first two problems are my biggest frustrations right now. My lower priority third problem is that when i get into my music from my media server, it shows two of every song.(havent had this problem with videos or pictures...yet)One plays and the other just says "This folder could not be accessed. This content may have been deleted from the media server."(it hasnt, and i have refreshed several times)

I have built my media server to handle a video conversion software, but would rather not use it because of the quality sacrifice and the time. Can anyone shed some light on my situation? (i know its a lot to handle) Thanks.
