First off let me explane, I would always use DVDFab 5 / DVD Shrink 3.2 / DVD Decriptor to backup my movies. Never having problems. Reciently I reformatted my computer with the same operating system (XP)and reinstalled each program. Here's what happens:
I run DVDFab 5, I then open DVD Shrink and click Open Files and point to where DVDFab 5 saved files. It reads fine.
Now here is where it gets odd. We are in Full Disc at this point (which I can backup fine in) but when I click Re-Author here is when I get the error and have to close DVD Shrink.
Any ideas???
I find that burning just the movie is much better for playback so I'd love to resolve this.
Thanks in advance!

If you have IE8 installed, remove it and go back to IE7.
99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

dialysis1,
I'm a dedicated Firefox user (and occasionally Opera to check mail on another account) but of course still have the unused ie 7 on my PC. Aside from the tiresome Microsoft bashing popular with some here on Afterdawn, do you have any thoughts on how the ie 8 Beta browser can conflict with a program like DVD Shrink? I have no doubts that it's true mind you, but I can't help wondering how.

There seems to be a certain .dll file in IE8 that causes the crash. I can't remember the name of that .dll file but when I find it, I will post back. I could be wrong but I believe it has something to do with directX.
Edit:
The name of the file is mshtml.dll.

That is some impressive detective work dialysis1. Thanks.

Very informative Dialysis. And yet another Shrink issue due to IE8.

Agreed. But isn't that one of the pitfalls inherent in trying to use a Beta release of any app.

Yes, the user may have issues (such as this one) while using a beta release.
However, one of the points to the supplying customer's with a beta release is to find these types of "bugs" and work them out before releasing a stable version.

That's exactly the point I was making. So if a person decides to stick with ie, which over 70% of users worldwide do, then wait for the final release and see what happens.
