So I've been using Shrink and Decrypter for ages, but recently it's been failing me, Iron Man, Speed Racer and 21 to be specific. Is there a new copy protection? How do I get around it. Also, please talk to me like an idiot because I am when it comes to this stuff.

OK idiot, if you'd have looked in this forum or searched, using those titles as search terms you'd know this: Yes indeed there are copy protections that Shrink and or Decrypter can't untangle. I have but one thing to say, and that is 'Fab' as in DVDFab HD Decrypter.

I did Iron Man R1 using only DVD Decrypter. I have the log file to prove it. You may have a bad disc. There are reports of bad pressings on Iron Man.

A while back, DVDFab was having problems producing a clean rip. DVD Shrink couldn't open the ripped files. Using FixVTS to correct the IFO's and remove any useless cells would fix the problem.
DVDFab has since corrected this problem. Out of habit some users still use FixVTS after each rip. It can't hurt but in most cases probably unnecessary.

After reading a user's complaints on another forum, it appears that DVDFab still does not produce fully clean rips. I ran some tests and found this to be true.
So IMHO I would still use FixVTS after every rip.

Cheers for the info, i'll revert to using Vobblanker after each DVDFab rip then.

I did IRON MAN with DVDFab HD Decrypter, VobBlanker to take care of unwanted/useless junks, Recode 3 to transcode and burned with Nero Burning Rom. I was thinking DVD-Rebuilder Pro + CCE SP2 since IRON MAN is 2 hrs long, but after I have VobBlanker delete/blank out unwanted stuff, it's only 12% that needed to be transcoded, so I went with Recode 3 instead.
Good movie, enjoyed it and watched it on my 51" Sony HDTV and it's awesome. Happy burning to all.
