I just got some news about PS3 lasers from china claiming to be new!!!!! This might help people trying to repair there PS3's 4 out of 10 fail very quick (30mins or so) or just don't work at all they just replace the diode's with low grade ones that are cheap the refurbish units will have a white ribbon clip and look just like the original ones!!! as for the brand new ones will have a brown clip and work 10 out of 10 I just want everyone to know here are the pics side by side
oh and I should let all of you know that the disk only spins after the laser sees it if the laser is bad it will spin slow or never spin so people buying the lasers that have the white clip so called new may have got a bad unit and that is why it never fixed the problem
Thanks for sharing some information. This has been covered around here before regarding those lasers quality. Another member here purchased units from Spain which had brown connectors and had a 0% failure rate.
Sometimes the laser isn't the issue with a no-spin condition. Read through the 'blue ray drive dead' thread and you'll see there are some of us with controller board issues, too.
I have not had any bad control board's as of yet!!!!!!! But I am not saying they are not out there. I am not a fanboy of any console (so don't flame me)... I just have been repairing them since the PS1. God I just hit my 200 mark with Xbox 360's just the other day. I have a guy out of CA. that I buy my PS3 parts from... He can get you anything as far as PS3 parts go shells, ribbons, motors, motherboards, OEM hard drives, caddy's, working lasers, decks, full blu ray drives, power supply's, memory card covers, and much more. I won't buy from anyone but him!!! He will test everything before he ship's he give's the highest service of anyone I have dealt with. He has a Ebay account http://myworld.ebay.com/fuzionelectronics just go there and send him a email asking him what you need. He ship's super fast!!!!!!!
