I am having trouble encoding my disc. It says protection error. I think it is something with the copyrights but, I am not sure.

Did you rip the DVD with DVDFab HD Decrypter before using DVD Shrink?

As attar eluded to, DVD Shrink can no longer handle the newer encryptions. Try DVD Fab as he suggested and you should be well on your way. For more info, try the links in my signature.
