when your using dvd shrink how much is possible to shrink the files i have avi files that are 1.4gb when they are converted to dvd i expect they will be along the lines of 8gb would it be possible to shrink these to fit on 1 dvd using dvd shrink

DVD Shrink is a tool intended to compress files coming from a DVD, not just any AVI file you happen to have. To create a DVD from any file (be it AVI or not), you need an authoring tool, that is, a tool that encodes your video files to MPEG-2, organize them the right way, and let you create chapters and menus. If you have Nero 6, you can use NeroVision Express.

FYI AVI's are generally about 33 times larger than MPEG-2's.
