hi can any 1 help me,get my ps3 online i followed instructions in manual but cant get my ps3 online ,just tells me cant find internet connection ,,

are you hard wired to a modem or using WIFI? How far along are you getting in your connection set up?

hi thanks for trying to help me out,,,ok right im connected by hard wired set up though my router which is virgin media ,im using a ethernet cable straight from my router ,,when i do a test it says no internet connection found,,hope that helps

Wow, that should be pretty straight forward. I'm not familiar with your router but you should be able to access you router settings by entering http://192.168.1.1 into your PC internet search bar. Your PS3's IP address may need to be given permission to access your router???

lol m8 ,mite seem pretty straight forward to you but im lost ,i have manage to get my I.P address but now wot do i do now ???im a bit thick when it comes to computers and stuff

ok when entering IP address its says subnet,default router,primary DNS,SECONDARY DNS,where do i get this info from ???and wot does DHCP host name mean and do i need to enter 1??then says MTU auto or manual??then DNS setting ,then UPNP enable or disable ? then proxy server USE OR DO NOT USE ?? THEN WHEN GET TO THE END IT SAYS ,OBTAIN IP ADDRESS FAILED, OR TIMED OUT ,,HOPE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THIS ,,

just use easy set-up. don't use custom if you don't know what your doing you'll just make more problems for yourself.

Indeed, the only way you would really benifit by doing it by hand would be if you were going to setup a static ip address.

Sorry, I did not mean that it is easy for me, so it should be easy for you. I meant that setting up a hard wired connection is supposed to be easy. To get you router IP, primary and secondary DNS, I think you go to start > accessories > network connections > Right Click on your connection Icon > Properties > should show your router IP and DNS. I could be wrong. I'm at work and cant simulate it.
Also, as I mentioned earlier, If you need your router IP,DNS,SubNetMask etc... On your internet search bar on your PC, search for 192.168.1.1 . Thats probably your router's default IP address. From there, you can look through / adjust your router's settings.

right people thanks for all your info ,i have sorted out the problem all i had to do was plug my ethernet lead in my ps3 and turn off my modem for ten mins then turn it back on so that my modem recognizes my ps3 which is wot i did and it worked so thanks for the help every 1
