Ok, so if I am burning with Shrink I wanna try and get the best possible quality. I have 66.5% compression rate and I am looking at other options. The two that I'm curious about is 'deep analysis' (says I can get better quality) and 'quality adaptive error compensation' (smooth, sharp, etc.). Should these options be considered?

Simply put, the answer is yes.

The best way to gain more quality is to remove any unneeded audio tracks and subtitles. If you don't speak or read French, who needs it right? If your have a 66.5% compression rate, a 75% compression rate is alot better. (The higher the number, the less the DVD was compressed)

Hi, for high compression rates, I hear dvd rebuilder is the only way to go for the utmost in quality. It puts dvd shrink to shame.

Lambchops is right on with Dvd Rebuilder.

Dvd Shrink transcodes the file, where as Dvd Rebuilder re-endcodes which results in absolute better quality.

Here lately, DvdRB is all i have been using. Be prepared for it to take an hour or two to re-encode, but the end result is well worth it.

I'll check it out. I already took out all the uneeded junk, I was just wondering if the options I mentioned could quality.

PS: Strangely enough, I do read and speak french.

For high compressions needed, such as 20% or more, I'll simply use DVD-Rebuilder Pro + CCE SP2 and for anything 15% or lower, I'll use Nero Recode 3 with "Advanced Analysis + High Quality + Best Quality to Main Movie."

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

66.5% compression:

Is that what dvd shrink's compression tab shows?

If so, it's actually 33.5% compression, which is no biggie for shrink. Now if it wss actually 65.5%,then the sliderbar would be red and have to run it through dvd shrink twice.

I prefer Max Sharpness which is a little quicker than Max smoothness of the 4 AEC enhancements. Those AEC enhancements will slow down your process time, depending on all your resources: Processor speed/Ram/etc.

But I only have a 32" picture tube TV set,so the quality looks pretty good at that compression.Without max smoothness or max sharpness,I can see a blockiness on the tv from highly compressed backups.

Dvd rebuilder would be the way to go if you want the highest quality.

At 33.5 % compression, DVD-RB is the way to go for the highest quality (looks almost as good as the origional)
