My computer crashed the other day, and I'm trying to get things back to normal again. Desides DVD Fab, I used to also use DVD Shrink, which automatically opened DVD Decrypter when it finished, and I could start writing to disk.

I just finished using DVD Shrink, and it didn't open Decrypter. When I opened it, and chose ISO Write, as I used to do, and then selected the DVD from my directory, it wouldn't open.

I can't seem to find any settings I should change on either program to fix these problems. Am I missing something?

Imgburn is the updated burn engine from Decrypter.

Download Imgburn (freeware) from http://www.imgburn.com

And then follow this link:

Can you elaborate a little more on how it's not working? The more details you can provide the easier it is for us to decipher a solution.

EDIT:
Use the pull down menu to select Burn ISO with Imgburn (the pic says Dvd Decrypter, but it should read Imgburn if you followed my sticky) as outlined in the pic below.

I think I found the problem. I unchecked the box marked to use Nero, then looked at my output options. I had been saving as a file to my hard drive, instead of ISO

Don't remember the exact wording, but I think this should enable me to write using DVD Decrypter.

I'll know in a few minutes.

For some reason, the DVD Decryptor option isn't there, as pictured. The ISO image file option is the only one. It at least gives me a file I can burn.

If you followed the sticky i linked you to above, it should read ISO image file and burn with Imgburn

That was a pic i lifted from Alkohol's guide due to the fact that i'm not on my home pc and thus cannot provide a screenshot. :)

Yes, you can output to an ISO then burn manually with either Imgburn or Nero. I prefer that method so i can preview the files before i burn.

All in all, i prefer Imgburn over Nero. It's a fantastic burn engine, and typically all i use.

I initially had downloaded that "Express Burn" from your link in this thread. That's why the "burn with ImgBurn" option didn't show up on my DVD Shrink. I've now downloaded ImgBurn, and that option has appeared.

I'm trying it now. Looks real similar to DVD Decrypter. I don't anticipate any problems, and thank you again for your help here.

What's wromg with using Dvd Decrypter to burn. Ive always used dvdshrink + dvd decrypter for all my backups with using anydvd in the background. Should I upgrade to imgburn? Is it a better burning engine than Decrypter?

There isn't anything wrong with burning with DVD Decrypter if you don't mind using an outdated, unsupported program. Imgburn, as already stated, is a continuation of the DVD Decrypter burn engine that is currently receiving support and updates. If you don't like advancements and improvements in software then Imgburn might not be for you.

hey guys/girls,

Just dropping a line to thank everyone for their help/input with using img burn with Shrink. I was having massive trouble before, trying to use Nero with Shrink (on Vista). Have just used Img Burn & Shrink & had success first time. Thanks a bunch!

Cheers,

Nero 8 and above are not compatible with Dvd Shrink.

You can't go wrong with Imgburn.
