Hi, i have been using dvd shrink for a couple years now and its worked really good until the last couple weeks. When ripping a dvd usually i will just go to "open disc" or i will use dvd fab first and then use the "open files" option in dvd shrink. Well it will go thru the analysing process but as soon as i click "Backup!" my little hour glass will come up for about 3-5 seconds then Dvd shrink will just shut down, no error message or anything. Anyone know what will cause this? I tried reinstalling and it still does it.

Does this happen when you rip with DVDFab first? Or only when you try to use DVD Shrink by itself? If you are trying to use DVD Shrink alone you will encounter problems as it is no longer updated and cannot handle many newer encrytions, in which case you should follow the advice given to you by our lovely member bryston. If not please post back with more detail, i.e: movie title and any other errors you might be receiving.

It mostly does it when i try to use the open disc options. But ive always used that before and its worked. It does do it sometimes even if i use dvdfab first but not all the time. And it does it on all movies even really old ones.

What version is your DVDFab HD Decrypter? Get the latest of DVDFab HD Decrypter 5210 here http://www.dvdfab.com/download/DVDFab5210Beta_avangate-689.exe
What's the name of the movie/title? I believe the current DVDFab HD Decrypter can rip any dvds/movies for now. Are you using IE8? If so, then go back to IE7.
And lastly before you're going to start "Open Files" with DVD Shrink, have (run) the already ripped file (VIDEO_TS) through VobBlanker or FixVTS. Once you're done processing with them either VobBlanker or FixVTS, then continue on with DVD Shrink as usual.
NOTE: when continue (Open Files) via DVD Shrink, make sure you locate/navigate to the already processed file from FixVTS or VobBlanker, not the ripped VIDEO_TS file from DVDFab HD Decrypter.

Hi guys. I've had no success backing up my copy of Chicken Run, same thing happens, Shrink hourglasses, then closes. I'm now going to create a folder "CRFab" then run DVDFab HD Decrypter 5210, then run the resulting files that are created in "CRFab" through FixVTS. Question: Are the files I will then run through DVD Shrink the ones in the FaxVTSBackup folder, or the other ones in the "CRFab" folder? Please let me know if I'm going in the right direction. Thanks!

The ones in the CRFab folder are what you want to continue processing with DVD Shrink. The files in the FixVTS folder are a back-up of your original pre-processed files.

Thanks ferguj1. It worked. Now, is it me, or is the fact that I sometimes try 3 or 4 times with Ripit4me and/or DVD Fab and it eventually works an oddity or has anyone else had this experience? With some DVDs I try as many times, change nothing each time, and it just seems that my persistance is finally rewarded. Weird, but if it works I won't argue. Thanks again fergujl.
