I have a question about Shrink. I don't know, call me crazy, but I always remembered in the past when using Shrink, that if I ripped it as an Iso file, it would rip to my HD as an Iso file! Lately it seems that when I click to rip an Iso, it rips a handful of these "IOO" files it looks like? And then an MDS file. Now I know the MDS file will still burn onto a dvd... but is there a significant difference between the MDS and the Iso when viewing the final product?? And why is Shrink not ripping it as a straight Iso file? Did I change a setting or something and not realize it? Wouldn't I prefer an Iso over the MDS?? Please help...

Thank you

Hi,

the mds file is a small file that tells a program (as Imgburn) how to burn your iso file(s)

What you have done is inadvertantly split your 1 large iso into smaller files.

This usually happens when the hdd is fat32 and not NTFS

In NTFS, you usually get 2 files, a data file and a mds file (if you are using Imgburn to create them, and the file is > in size than 4.7 Gb)

Hope this helps

Hi bryston,
Ok so, as far as quality goes, there's no difference really between watching a movie that was burned as an MDS file as opposed to a straight ISO file? When you say Imgburn, are you're referring to ripping an ISO file?
So then would changing my hdd from fat32 to NTFS fix this issue that when I read/rip a movie as ISO in Dvd Shrink, that it will include a file ending in .ISO?
And then how would I go about changing my hdd to NTFS? Do I do it in the software itself or on my hard drive?
I hope I'm saying this all correctly...
Sorry if I'm confusing you at all, just trying to follow as best I can here...

This topic has been covered HERE. Take a quick read as it also discusses how to convert from FAT32 to NTFS. Good Luck.
