Im running xp,
Whenever I add movies to dvd shrink i get the error invalid file name. It dosent load them or anything just the invalid file name. I am new and dont know what information i should provide thats all thats happening...
System
Intel core 2 duo
4 gigs of ram
24" 1080p Samsung
dual 8800gt's
1 tera harddrive

Are you trying to use DVD Shrink to rip your movies to your HDD? DVD Shrink is no longer supported or updated software and therefore may have trouble handling the newer releases. Try ripping with DVDFab HD Decrypter, it is free and updated often to handle the newer encryptions. You can then process your files from your HDD using DVD Shrink to get them down to DVD 5 size.
Also, you are not by chance using IE 8 are you? As this is known to cause conflicts and errors in the process.

I dont think I quite understand what Im trying to acomplish
I would like a program that will "clean up" the movie before I
burn it...I have quality movies but they arnt always burning
to the quality I would like.
Please give some advice

What process have you been using to back up your movies? What format are they in? And one of the most important is what media are you burning to? Your original question had to do with invalid file name, has that been solved?

In a way yes, I have stoped using dvd shrink and dont think it will be for my needs, I download aXXo burn them to a memorex DVD+R 4.7GB, 16x, 120min.
I burn with nero 9
Any suggestions to better the quality?

First Nero 9 has had a lot of issues, one of which is compatabality with DVD Shrink. In my opinion ImgBurn is the best burning program out there, plus it is free. Second, you need to get some high quality media such as Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, or Sony. Burn at 1/2 the rated speed of the disk or no more than 8x.

Sounds like you're downloading ".avi" files and you need to convert them to DVD format before you burn.. 2 programs will do very easily:
free: DVD Flick
not-free: VSO's ConvertXtoDVD (currently offering 20% holiday discount)
My preference (have used both) is ConvertXtoDVD.. very easy to use, very simple.. very quick, many menu choices, allows preview as its converting, and will even let you add the original files to your DVD if you want to.

I do have that software but it takes about an hour to covert and an hour to burn so i stoped using it...:( Imgburn seems to be working better and with a slightly better qualtiy

collin101 you can only do so much with what you have, if your avi is from a cam you can't do much with that if you know what i meen! it would be a good thing to read the description of the avi before you download it!

The avi im downloading arnt cam, there from an uploader that rymes with cXXo, i dont know if it is against polocies to put in his name, but there good quality i just wanted to know if there is anyway to make the quality a little better when burned or a way to get high quality movie downloads?

You've already mentioned the uploader's name in an earlier post, so...
And as far as I know, there's no way to clean up an avi file.. You can either burn as a data disc and hope your player can play an avi, or you can use one of the mentioned programs to convert to DVD format and create a disc that will play in any DVD player.
You mentioned ImgBurn as being quicker, but it can't convert from avi to DVD. It can create an ISO file (DVD format) from existing audio.ts & video.ts files but it can only burn the avi directly. So, may be quicker than using a conversion program (and yes, its the best burner out there), but you'll still only end up with a data disc (even if you're burning on a blank DVD).. So, I would re-consider using an avi to DVD conversion program.. even if it does take longer, you'll end up with a better disc.
And as for a better quality download... they can only be as good as the file that was originally uploaded.

collin101 you say that it is good quailty from this uploader right? if it is good quailty why do you need to clean it up? next time try to get a r5 or a dvd rip, that way you don't have to worry about cleaning up the video!
