Exactly why I hardly ever watch movies in theatres, some people just don't know when to shut up when watching a movie.

I think people should be issued a silenced pistol or taser by the police when entering a theater. Why do I support a radical move because its the only way to bring democracy to theaters across the US.

Not sure what I find more disturbing, the shooting itself or the comments in this thread. I hate loud people in theaters myself, but damn...

I'm pretty sure the loud guy was asked nicely to quite down once and then probably asked again a little more firmly, and then eventually popcorn was thrown at his kid and he was shot in the arm, all cause he wouldn't be quite.
All this article does is strengthen the anti-movie points, everyone always complains about how others at the theater are loud and inconsiderate.

Amen. To be sympathetic with the shooter, you can only tell someone so many times to shut up kindly. Not feeling sympathetic for the "victim": should of listened. Do I think it was ok for the guy to shoot the loudmouth? No but I'll be damned if it was not funny and in some sick way righteous for getting the point across. Now all the movie theatres need to do is post a sign with a guy shooting a guy being too loud, the shooter placing his index finger to his lips in a "shhhhh" gesture while shooting the loudmouth, just to show the consequences. lol

Wow.. Only in America would you hear this kind of stuff...
These holidays have been disgusting.. First a woman gets trampled at a Walmart by crazed shoppers... Now this...
These holidays have really shown the world what America is all about. I know that these are just some bad apples in a decent group of people. But c'mon.. Give me a flippin break!! I hope this guy rots in hell.

The guy must have been playing GTA4 too much and got confused. LOL.
I was at a theater last year and this idiot was in front of me shuffling his popcorn and repeatedly burping loudly like he was in his own living room. After the 2nd time I told him to shut up. I was preparing to throw with him when the movie let out but he left quickly.
It's a shame that this happens, but it's similar to what happens to airline workers when a passenger gets out of control, or road rage. It's the "ME" culture at it's worst and personally I think it's becoming a big problem. But actually capping someone is over the top. I'd think we'd see that a lot more in the highways.

Hmmm...so what you are saying is ONLY Americans are capable of doing anything like this? So I guess no one else in the world has had a thought similar to this? Maybe no one else has acted on it but to say "only in America" is an ignorant statement.

There are lots of extinct society models.. this one has only been around for about 50 years in reality.. so a few more before it goes the same way of say feudalism.. or the Harappans.
Anyway.. back on topic.. cinematic violence causes imitative behaviour - case proved
I hope it was that moron who filmed The Simpsons on his phone.. remember him.. the guy with that retarded laugh? I would happily have choked the life out of him with a giant size popcorn and diet coke package XD

This may be true, but I cannot say we have become a greater society, as a people.

Well, you couldn't have heard it if you had a TS (Telesync) version. That term itself refers to the fact that the audio was sourced from a direct connection to the sound source in the cinema.... But I get you are trying to be funny. I think the term you are looking for is cam. :-)

I consider myself a peaceful man, but honestly,in a cinema numerous times I wished I'd pop some of those obnoxious people right in the mouth. If you don't go the theater to see a movie, and go just because you have no other place to spend your miserable life, and just try to pretend that you have some quality time with your neglected children, at least learn to be courteous and shut the hell up during the presentation. Acting like retard in a movie theater is no way of educating your offsprings.
Shooting someone for that is not the solution, you can't push a button and have the security drag them out, but someone needs to teach them a lesson. Maybe the word gets out, and they'll think twice before treating the movie theater like their trailer trash living room.
