Why cant the ps3 play this video back? Im using tversity to stream it to the ps3 and have been using it for over a year now playing back tons of avi files and lots of vob and .mt2 files. This file plays back fine on my computer yet the ps3 cant play it back but yet it doesnt pop up the doesnt support message. Instead you just see the circle(hour glass) symbol blinking like its trying to but it never loads. At the same time i can go any other movie files and play them back fine.

Most likely the .avi file is simply encoded using settings (or a version of Xvid) that isn't supported by the PS3. I'm thinking that the "Codec Profile: Streaming Video Profile/Level 1" is the issue. The video was encoded using an older profile, and the profile should be more recent for the PS3 to recognize it. That's what I think, anyway. I dunno for sure.
If you want to stream it, you'll probably have to re-encode it first.
Even still, it's almost definitely something about the way it was encoded. I don't know what exactly, but there's some sort of profile setting with DivX and Xvidcodecs that doesn't jive with the PS3.
If you want, you can run the avi through VDubMod or MeGUI again, this time using a different encoding profile. (I use MeGUI + Avisynth; the Bitrate Calculator that MeGUI has is really useful in retaining quality, I find.)
Anyway, I think that's the only way of getting the PS3 to recognize it. The re-encoding process shouldn't take too long, especially if you're on a decent computer (Pentium 4 on).
