from what I have heard uTorrent takes up less disc space and RAM then Azureus. Azureus is a high end version and they say its worth the extra space. (I use Azureus ^_^)

I use both and the main difference I see is their footprint. At startup (no torrent), utorrent uses less than 5000 K and Azureus (Vuze) uses 14x that although there is no impact here what so ever. The installed size of Vuze is 22.6 MB while utorrent has no install folder that I see. Overall, performance is about equal although I did have some major issues with utorrent and still do, although less now (seem restricted to me). That's an older version of utorrent because one site requires it and Vuze 3.1. On a side note, using Vuze's ip blocker rather than PeerGuardian seem's to raise Vuze's footprint considerably but don't quote me on that and am not sure that is the case, don't see how it could be. I do like Vuze though, great client but I think it would slow an older system using that much memory.

Utorrent maybe the most popular but not the best
altought it is a "light: bittorent client it is definetly not the fastest. Azureus is a bit chunkier then utorrent but is much faster
i recomend Azureus for big files (over 5 gigs)
and utorrenr(Under 5 gigs)

don't you people get it??.. so what.. an application takes maybe 80mb of ram?.. I used to run azureus on a p3 with 256mb ram.. and the machine still ran just fine. What else do you want all those gigs of ram you all have these days for.. sitting there 90% unused??. what is the point of that?
Start running an efficient OS and you will have 50k free.. not 900mb's.. and why is that?.. read ahead and running the page file where it might do some good.

Utorrent is owned by the macrovision/macromedia people.. you really trust them?.. tests show that regardless of peer blocker software the application sprays your ip and packets all over the place..........
In my books there is no competition.. I trust the azureus/vuze people.. why??.. because it's open source software and you can see exactly what it does.. no hidden or obfusticated code.. no hidden processes.. Not something owned by the enemy which has some unusual behaviur built in to say the least.

People do get it, there's just no evidence and no one is knocking Vuze/Azureus, quite the contrary in fact and everyone agree's that it is a terrific client but heavy and wonder why. Actually dropped utorrent for Vuze today after 3 year's with utorrent. I know I can see my AV running 3 processes that only use a fraction of the memory that Vuze does and I wonder why the difference and I'm sure other's do as well, like is Java the difference. I have heard of it bringing high end machine's to their knee's, same with utorrent to a lesser degree, any program can run fine on one machine and freeze another and that would be a consideration on an older machine with less Ram. As far as memory, I think I run a very efficient OS with much more than 900 MB of Ram free, Vuze use's a lot, that's all. I installed the Ram for Vista but went back to XP after a week but that's another story. I did shake my head when Bram Cohen went into a deal with the MPAA and bought utorrent and said it was no conflict of interest and that bittorrent wasn't meant for illegal file sharing but that was just over 2 year's ago and I think someone would have noticed by now if utorrent was relaying any info. He's no idiot and would have to be to ruin utorrent. Bottom line, Vuze/Azureus is a great client that I'm very happy with but so is utorrent, I think I read utorrent's market share is around 75%. There are other light client's like Deluge but it's installed size is huge and that bothered me too.
