Aol took money from from my bank after cancelation

I canceled aol over two months ago and they have continued to take money from my account £17.99 twice and £2.99 twice i have made several phone calls all recorded by me and they promised 3 times that the account has been cancelled and i would get a refund but insted of a refund they took more money and now they are saying that they cannot give me back the two lots of £2.99 because thats mcaffee security but it said aol .on the bank statement.
aol have as far as i am concerened stole money from me and are refusing to give it back they are probably doing this to thousands of people and then making lots of money its about these GIANTS of the internet were brought to there knees if there is any one els out there having the same problem please join this thread and tell your story

Contact your bank, and tell them that you are being robbed by AOL.

AOL has done this for years, I hate to see they are still doing it. When I signed up a friend of mine for their service, they told her the screen name she picked was taken to pick another. We ended being charged for both for 18 months before I could stop it. They blamed it on my bank, that my bank was taking my money, not them..
OK, I go to the bank and the manager heard the world "AOL" and he wanted to handle it. They did the exact same thing to him that they are doing to you.. This was back on the year 2000.
On speaker phone he called and asked for a manager, explained to her who he was and why I was in his office. She denied they were taking my money twice a month at first, then she said they couldn't give me my money back too, but they did send it back to me and gave my friend a years free service.
I have never understood why they feel like that have to do this and I just can not believe they are still doing it and getting away with it all these years.. Research it on the internet and you will find your story repeted over and over for years!
Which reminds me, she closed her AOL account a few weeks ago and is still using it. I bet they are doing it to her... I am sending her a email right now!

Aol are basicly mugging me if they done it on the streets they would face a prison sentence why are they not scared to steel money from people
I think that someone should be held responsable and put behind bars

I also had this happen to a friend of mine back in 2000. They started taking out double each month, and they never did explain why they did. Each time it happened they offered him 2 months free service as compesation. When he told me about it, he was up to 18 months free service. Cable internet finally came to our area, he called them to tell them he was dropping their service, if they charged him again he would report them to the better business bureau, and file a lawsuit after taking them to our local investigative news reporter.

Hay you think you got it tough wait till you read this,i have dis covered that aol have been taking money out or one of my accounts for dial up snce 2005 which is when we changed over to broadband which we pay for on a separate bank account so basically they have stollen £591.64p with out giving me anything for it. Although we look at statements they come in at separate times so seeing aol on a statment didnt look out of place ,aol just say i should have told them sooner so no refund thanks aol for nothing.

surly they will pay you back they have paid me back aventualy
they took out another payment the other day but refunded t the next so im not going to phone them coz its no good for my blood pressure you should write them a letter pretend you are taking them to cort im sure they will pay up
Ive tryed contatng BBC's Watch Dog programme but they dont want to know perhaps they are freinds with aol. I also wanted to go to the AOL head office and kick off but i found out t was in Luxembourg

No i dont think i will get my £591.64p back they offered me two months refund ,about 30 quid, to be honest i am totaly discusted with them and would willingly pay £591 to see the directors behind bars for stealing my money so i will be taking legal advise and i am going to make it a mission to persue this to the end.

Two years ago I helped a friend finally get rid of AOL he had cancelled it but they still kept taking money out. I found a lot of complaints on the web and a person had astep by step process of being on the phone for 45 minutes with a rep that had it word for word of what you would be asked.At the very end they give you a confirmation number if you don't stay on long enough to get it they'll still keep charging the account. Luckily my friend was out only 4 months that he never received back.I'll see if I can find it again and post it.

aol,definitely the arbeys of ips.they flood the stores up here with their free trial disks.they are filling up our landfills with their crap.if it was me i would also pursue this to the max.

Our local community college here in town informed its students that they would have trouble accessing the college site for their online courses. For some reason, aol wouldn't allow them access through the schools servers.
They were also asked to set up a different e-mail account other than aol.

I think everyone should stand up to aol and there criminal activaties these people are steeling money wich if i am not mistaken is against the law. And i cant understand how such a large organisation would have the ordasity to do, surly if enough people complain somthing must to be done to stop them ever doing it again, and force them to pay back everthing they have stolen. but the complaints procedure is stupid because you have to write a letter of complaint to aol first. and then if your comlaint is not delt with the ips ombisman will take action. so as far as i can see it if you writ a letter you should get your money back. phone calls are a waist of time and to be honist get you very wound up talking to some muppet who has no autority to deal with you and just wants you to hang up. and it would probaly take just as long to write a letter.

I know this reply is late but wanted to add my tale of woe about AOL.
Cancelled my BB with AOL last dec and they are still taking payments from my account.
have chased up twice now.last time told they have cancelled the subscription but can't find details of the refund that should be in my account.
Now got to wait another 28 days to see if they can find it.
Avoid AOL like the plague!!!!!!!!

Well aol took another £17.99 this month i phoned them last month swearing and shouting down the phone dident do much good though they hung up then when i phoned back they said they had no record of me at all? mother****** then i phoned this week all and got through to an irish person not an asian and they found my records and promisied a refund that i would have to wait 30 days to receved and said that it will not happen again well i have recorded all the phone calls and if it happens again i will be phoning a soliciter to see if they fancy making some money from this open and shut case wich they probably will its there job.. pond to a penny they will take more money next month the derty robing bastards

I have helped a few customers with these issues...the only way I have found to keep AOL from doing this is to close the bank account/credit card that they are taking the money from...then you will get a call from them, and they will be happy to shut off your service.

Why should any one have to go through all that trouble. If you have loans comming out of that account the banks wont let you close the account this is a rediculious sugestion. AOL should have the decency to not take peoples money without there concent it is WRONG and they should be a easy way to stop people taking money from your accoun the bank are to blame too they allow this to happen and dont give a toss either they are a bunch of robbing bastars too havent you seen the news.

That is what AOL counts on, how inconvient it is to close your account because of them, however, it IS about the only way to stop them but if you do, you will probably never get your money back.
There has to be a way to stop them and make them pay every cent back to everybody they have ever scammed.. Nobody has just found that way yet. Remember, this has worked for over 10 years that I know of.. LOOK at the monry they are stealing!

ridiculous?whats ridiculous is that this is still happening to you.i dont know about where you are but in canada we can close an account regardless of loans coming out.we then make arrangements with creditors to draw payments out of the new account.the only ridiculous thing here is that you have allowed this to go on so long.good god i am becoming varnull.LMAO.

There is one other way...hire a lawyer and take them to court.
It is a lot easier to close the account. Before you close the account, open a new account and move your bills to it. (shop around, banks are competing heaviliy, and you might find a better account is available)
[edit] You can definitly find a better account; my bank would never play such games with me. Directv tried to charge me for a month that I did not have the service, a simple call to the bank reversed the charge.

aol robbed me for 5 months.. my bank were no help at all in the matter. when I tried finally to close my account they refused and started sending me nasty letters.. continuing to pay even though no funds were available and charging me accordingly.
aol insisted I contact them on the phone number which was associated with the account.. which was not possible as it had been disconnected. Eventually they saw reason, but not until some legal letters were sent at great expense.. I suggest never ever using them.
We need protection from aol and the banks.. it seems it's not our money we deposit in the bank and that they decide who to pay with or without our permission.

I have had fraudulent charges to my debit card & checking account in the past, and Wachovia has always reversed the charges. I don't know what banks you are dealing with...I am just glad that I am not using them. Even happier that I am not using AOL!
REMEMBER: The bank works for you. If they will not work on your behalf, then they should not be your bank.
