I've had Shrink for years... and most recently have been running it on a Vista32 machine and it usually runs fine. But sometimes it just won't start up right. Parts of it blink on and off and the only way to shut it down is with the task manager. Reinstalling doesn't help. But who knows... tomorrow it may be fine. It's happened before?

The only other bit of info that might be useful is I have FFD Show and I get that pop-up when starting Shrink... but I do NOT use FFD Show with Shrink.

Any ideas? Thanks!

DVD Shrink needs to be run as administrator when using Windows Vista.

If you're logged on as administrator, right click the Shrink icon and select Run as Administrator or, right click and select Properties > Compatibility (tab) then tick the box Run this program in compatibility mode for... and Select Windows XP from the drop down menu.

Thanks for responding. There's only ever been one user on this machine with admin privileges. Shrink worked when I first installed it some 14 months ago on the Vista machine, got plenty of use?. then about 6 months ago I had this same problem and it went away after I reinstalled Shrink? or maybe it just went away for reason unrelated to reinstalling.

Now it's back and reinstalling it doesn't work... neither does Run As Administrator from the context menu get it to run.

I am having a similar problem with DVD Shrink. I am running Vista Business 32 bit with a AMD Phenom x4 and as soon as I open DVD shrink up it just locks up... you can right click on dvd shrink in the task bar and it just shows a blank pop up box no move, minimize, close. I have to go into the task manager to get it to exit out. i uninstalled it and reinstalled a new copy of it still no luck. this just recently started too, I got DVD Decrypter and thats about the time it started. I can use both dvd DECRYPTER and IMGBURN with no problem.

Problem solved though I'm not sure what I did was responsible.

I uninstalled FFD SHOW and Shrink, then reinstalled Shrink. Uninstalling Shrink previously didn't help. So was FFD SHOW the problem?

Sound like the problem I had. Mine also flickered on the upper left quadrant where is says DVD STRUCTURE, DURATION etc. It's happened before though I can't remember then if I had FFD Show installed. And I'm not sure if uninstalling FFD Show helped. But Shrink is now working.

I have a bad habit of sometime watching video in Shrink. So I expand the screen. I think the problem is when the screen is maximized and Shrink is closed down. Why that would require a un/reinstall is beyond me.
