There were numerous reviews saying this HD worked great in the PS3, I followed a utube video and installed the HD. When restarting the system its should recognize and ask to format right away, correct?
When I start it "Conect the controller using a usb cable, and then press PS button"
so I did, and it says "the system software cannot run correctly, press the PS button to try to restart the system" so I did, and it returns to this screen.

If the system cannot be restarted, the system partition of the hard disk must be reformatted and you must install the system software.
Insert storage media that contains update data version 2.53 or later, and then press START and SELECT buttons at the same time.
I did this and its searchs and coomes up with nothing.
Any ideas? please help I'm trying to surprise my son with this new HD for him...thanks in advance adnup..
All vid's and pics I see show the HD siding to the side then out, my HD just pulls straight out. Its turned 45 degrees from all the stuff I see. I this a new set up? I purchased in June 08
Glad you got it to work. I have the exact same HDD sitting in front of me right now. I got it on sale ($59.99 with free shipping from good ol' newegg) last week...and I'm now waiting for an external enclosure I just ordered before I make the swap.
As far as the position goes....I guess Sony has made some physical changes....interesting.
