Hi Everyone

I wanted to start this thread on the Dlink DNS-323 NAS to stream media to the PS3
the recent firmware update to 1.60 allows you to store native media on the NAS and stream directly to the PS3

I finally got mine running realatively easily.

I do have some further questions on directory structure.

This thing can share itunes data as well be an ftp server and bittorrent server

The thing I like about a NAS is that the computer doesnt need to be on for you to get files.

Dont upgrade your HD on the PS3 invest money into a NAS if you want to stream media to your PS3

You can also run Twonky media (http://www.twonkymedia.com/) on the DNS-323. I initially turned off the UPnP server that came with the DNS-323 because it was not performing very well.

I just upgraded to the latest firmware. I'll give it another look.

Twonky use DLNA but also works with UPnP. It is a bit more tricky to install however. You need to activate the telnet interface of the DNS (it is a linux box after all). You can run all kind of stuff on the DNS.

I agree with you, the DNS-323 is the best investment a PS3 owner can make.

Cheers,

P.S.: Even with 1TB of disk space on the NAS, I upgraded my PS3 HD to 500 Gig. Who said more is not always better ;-)
