Hi All,
I am a newbie to DVD backups and tried it last night after seening a great animated guide on how to use DVD Shrink with all its simplicity... using nero 6.0.0.0 and the latest DVD Shrink I downloaded yesterday. I am currently using a my laptop
(Amilo d 1840) 3ghz 512mb ram 2.4x DVD+R drive. I have tried backing up "finding nemo" and the burn process failed at 27%....So i had taken a look at the power down, screensaver and standby settings and disabled them....(this is like going back to the old and early CD-R days)....I tried again but this time the burn process stopped at 98%...I have read some informative posts who have replied to ppls with similar problems. now im thinking it could be alot of things like ASPI settings (although I dont have scsi?), having a enabled lan connection, having programs running in the background like sql server...(idle at the time).Running msconfig and disabling everything at startup. The media im using (currently proformance DVD+R). The errors I have recieved are "burn process failed" at 27%
and the last which is more interesting is "unspecified target error" at 98%

any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Carl.

Your PC needs an ASPI layer to communicate with the DVD burner even if it's not SCSI. But anyway Nero comes with its own ASPI drivers.

First you should upgrade to the latest Nero 6 version. See Nero.com/en/nero-up.php" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.Nero.com/en/nero-up.php

Second you should buy a DVD+RW disc so that you don't make any more coaster while trying to get your first backup.
