I'm trying to decide on which media server to use to stream to my PS3. I tried TVersity, but for the life of me couldn't configure it properly. Right now I'm living with Windows MP11 streaming my video to the PS3.

How is the PS3 Media Server? I know it only works with the PS3 (which is fine with me). Just curious if anyone is currently using it and can comment on how stable it is.

I'm looking to stream ISO's of my movie collection as well as some MKV with subs (anime!). Thnx in advance for your help!

I've doewnloaded it to use with my anime files as well. It works but theres only one problem, dual audio with subtitle file! It will only play the default settings, so if the default is english dubbed that's what it will stream, you wont be able to change it to japanese with subs.

Another problem is that you have to have the PS3 on first then turn on the media server, if you set to start the server at windows startup and then turn on the PS3, for some reason it wont detect my PS3, so i have to restart the server for it to detect the PS3.

These are the only 2 problems wth it, apart from that it is way better than TVersity!

yha, see i never use subtitles and the only anime i watch is full metal alchemist. and already got a majority of that on my ps3. but i hear you out. i liked the fact that it picked up my movie i had in my D: drive. i was wondering if you could directly copy it over. i realize how much that would have to be in the program for this to be possible, but who knows!

I'm in love with Java's PS3 Media Server. Like you, I also wanted to stream anime MKV's (w/ subs) and ISO's.

I threw every anime I could at the server and every MKV played on my PS3. Subtitles were automatically inserted. My only complaint is I don't know how to move the subtitle! At the moment, it displays at the very bottom edge of the TV screen, meaning hanging letters would be cut off (like g, y, and q). Otherwise, MKV's stream very well.

I could also stream ISO's! There is a slight delay due to the size I think but after about 20 seconds it's full steam ahead.

I'm also on a wireless network, which makes PS3 Media Server even more impressive. :)

I think it's the best thing since XBMC. It handles x/h.264 but my Pentium 4 2.8Ghz chokes.

I have not used java's ps3 server. I used to use wmp11 and also tried earlier versions of tversity and couldn't work it out so i went back wmp11 but was not real happy with it. I downloaded the latest version of tversity and i love it. Its way better wmp11. I had problems with wmp11 not being able to encode all the files but i have to problems with tversity.

I have to agree with the majority here, anything that I have thrown at the PS3 Media Server, it has played flawlessly. Plus I don't believe it could get much simplier than it is to use. So far great all around.

I downloaded this program a couple days ago, It works really well.
I love how it just browses through your files pretty much like a pc does.
Plays everything perfectly, music, dvd rips, videos, etc.
So much easier than trying to configure WMP11.
