I just saw that Costco (Canada) now has 3 packs of blank blurays - actually, 2 BR-R's and 1 BR-WR, on for 37 bucks. A lot cheaper than Future Shop's $20/disc.
So... I MIGHT pick up a bluray burner.
Now, can the PS3 read writable bluray discs (BD-R) ??
Of course there would be no point in me getting a Bluray burner if my PS3 can't even read them...
Yah that's probably the one I saw at Future Shop. I saw it on for $199Cdn, think it came with a BD-R. Then I saw Future Shop's prices for blank BD-Rs at $20 each and said no way. Then I was in Costco today and saw 3-packs of TDK (2 BD-R, 1 BD-RW) for like $28.
That's still WAY more cost/GB than a DVD-R or DVD-DL disc, but still, at least they're starting to come down in price.
But I wasn't going to pick up the discs or burner unless I was sure my PS3 could read them.
Originally posted by Troten: is this confirmed to work... like burn any ps3 game to a bluray disc and the ps3 just reads it right there normal?
LOL, this really did sound like a nooby question, but just like how the PS2 would not read PS2 game copies, the PS3 wont read copies either.
For game copies we are all hoping that the hackers will figure out how to start isos from the hdd or play disks. Though even atm the most cost effective was would be to crack it to form a hdd loader. Blueray disks are still too expensive and so buying originals would be better even if someone cracks the PS3 to run backup disks.
my bad... i just read it wrong ^^ but it could of been possible... i mean look at the dreamcast... it can play most games burned without a chip or anything
