I have the 80 GB ps3. Installed on it I have ydl 6.0 i think. As what you can do on it, Its kinda just like an extra pc. You can use it to surf the net. I have used mine to dump an iso of a dvd. Now im in the process of trying to learn how to dump a blu ray dvd and ps3 game. Not sure what to do with them once i to get the iso since i dont have a blu ray burner. As of the screen shots i will try to get some uploaded soon. If you have any questions just ask, Im new to linux on the ps3 but ill try to help as much as i can.

#1 ~ You don't need an HDTV but it can be trickier to install on a SD TV because it is text based (no graphics until install completed)

#2 ~ You can only partition 2 ways = 10 gb to Linux rest to PS3 OS (XMB) or 10gb to PS3 OS (XMB) and rest to Linux

They really need to change/improve that, especially with people putting increasingly large hard drives in with plenty of space for both linux and the PS os. Being able to only assign 10gb to one or the other pretty much cripples one of the two for all greater purposes.

umm... can you say external hard drive? I use it all the time to view my media on the ps3. no need to store it locally. I cant really think of any reason you would need more than 10 gigs on the OS. If you're running linux on the PS3 there is no way you would be using it to install any huge games for obvious reasons. It would be a nice choice, just saying its really unnecessary.
