ok now i fixed the title can some one help me figure this out the right hand side of the ps 3 is real hot after 10-15 min of use i cant update firmware before it freezes and i noticed that even when it is working for those 10 minutes the picture is not crisp at all it is in 1080p i called the tv manufacturer they went over it with me and everything is in order i just want to know if it is worth buying a new fan off ebay to keep it from over heating or if the picture is screwed up because of other issues including the overheating

Is your PS3 well-ventilated? It could be that you've got it jammed into a tight corner of your media setup. I doubt it, but it's always possible.

If it's starting up super-hot right after you start it, it might be a problem with something else. Because if the fan's working extra hard, that means that it's working PERIOD, and the problem is most likely due to something else in your system.

...at least that's what I think. Someone else with more knowledge might have a better answer for you.

the fan is barely running i can even hear it if i put my ear to it and there is barely any air flow out the back of the machine i am pretty sure the fan is not working properly and i can fix that easily for 20-30 dollars but the picture not being correct is my bigest worry

Right hand side all depends on how you have it situated. Also taking a pic of the ps3 in its native habitat would help us help you.

it is out in the wide open on a shelf by its self ontop of my dog wire dog kennel do it can suck air from any where it wants also i dont mean to keep repeating but the picture is not detailed while it is actually on and running. infact today tom try to keep it on longer i opened the window next to it and let the 30 gegree air hit it to try to keep it cool and that did absolutly nothing i am trying to get sony to do something for me because this machine has only been played like a total of 100 hours and i dont even use it to play blueray so i mean this thing is like brand new i took it apart and there was not even and dust inside it i thaught maybe it was full of dust nope not even a dust bunny fan was free to spin

Could possibly be a shot fan motor. Since you already took it apart, thus voiding the warranty, I s'pose you may as well take a look at the fan, since you seem pretty savvy with that stuff.

That sounds like it's probably the issue now.

You mentioned a dog kennel, since you have a dog possibly some hair got tangled in the motor part of the fan. I know I run into this alot with pc fans.
