So I am trying to share my music and such over my network so my ps3 can play it. I am using WMP11 to do so, but when I go to media sharing and enable it, there are no devices in the sharing settings. I tried the same thing on my room mate's PC and it worked fine, and I can access all his music on the ps3, but for me I just get a blank media sharing screen, any ideas?
Hey I accidentally found out how to Media Share my PS3 and my PC...
I downloaded Azuerus (now called Vuze) which is just a Bit Torrent downloader and media center etc.. if you didnt know aout it. Anyways, It has media sharing built in, and the PS3 instantly recognized it when its running in my PC. I do have the Ps3 and the PC both on a wireless connection, on the same router... All you need to do in Azuerus is go to >tools >options >Plugins >Upnp and the Check "enable Upnp" and everything works perfect. I stream movies everyday now instead of using a Flash drive or burning a DVD etc..

Try connecting the PS3 directly to the PC with an ethernet cable.(Dunno if that works, but heck, can't hurt to try, right?)
I have my PS3 and PC connected directly using an ethernet cable and it works great. That is how I stream all my movies using the PS3 Media Server.Have mine setup the same way, works great.
