I just purchased the movie Nights in Rodanthe. So I decided to back up the WS side only. Ripped it to the HDD with latest dvdfabHD, no problem. Fixvts was next. The problems came when trying to use dvd shrink. The total file size was about 4300 Mb, so no compression necessary. Shrink said I ran out of memory. Futhermore, now when I try to back anything up with shrink, I get a out of memory error.
Could this movie left a little virus in my pc to permanently screw up shrink ?

How much space do you still have on your HDD? DVD Shrink will still need space to create the iso before you burn..

I do not think your purchased DVD gives you a virus. Though you could get somewhere else. Or some applications are just holding up your memories. (Check your memory usage with Task Manager.)
Try Virus/Malware scan, then restart the system. Run and check Shrink without starting any other applications.
