Did anyone here manage to grab the update before Sony took it off the servers? I doubt anyone did because they took it off fast and everyone everywhere else I've looked was downloading it and it stopped at around the 80% mark. But if you somehow managed to get it, I'd love to take a look at it =)

Interesting, can't find much on it at all though, there isnt even really any rumored updates as usual besides the usual crap of ingame chat etc.

Downloading and just stopped at 80%? That's BS.
It's like saying you just typed up your homework on the computer, then a virus deleted it. Bleh.

Well, it was confirmed present by Scrawl. I've read in a few other places where people were downloading it, only for it to be taken off during download.
Details about the update are available Here
It seems to be an interesting update, and I would like to see it here soon =)

WEll from that link it seems it's still a disappointing update, I'm sure most of us want them to enable PS2 software emulation on all PS3s.

That's a bit more problematic than it would otherwise seem. The first run of 80 GB PS3s that used software emulation depended on hardware that has since been removed from its specs.

I doubt this is true. At least I'm pretty sure that in game web browsing is impossible on the ps3. It only has 256MB of RAM. I did here they were adding the home game launching which is a waste of time if u ask me.

Got it yesterday, thought about starting a thread to let folks now, didn't.
I honestly don't care much for it. It's "eh," but not in a bad way. Not in a good way, either, but not in a bad way. Coulda done more, like add in a new PS2 emulator download or something.
Or allow DTS in files, not just discs. Or get some sort of .mkv support. Or just allow .srt subtitles in external media. Or a bunch of other stuff.
So it's just "eh" on my front. I didn't use much of the stuff from 2.60, either. (Right? The photo gallery stuff was from 2.6, right?)

I guess I happened to turn my PS3 on right when it came out, but I've got it as well. They really should have added cross-game voice chat.. Not just text chat.

And we already basically had text chat, this is just a shiny new interface for it. Doesnt really make it any easier to do ingame because you still gotta go back into the xmb every time you want to see what someone said.
Thats my speel on it anyways. Better than just the usual bug fix updates though, not that fixing bugs in a bad thing.

i downloaded it about an hour ago.everything went good on the download.i put it on my 2gb flash drive and when i went to update,it said the data was corrupt so i couldnt update it.i can e-mail it to the original poster if you want it.

i downloaded thursday night i think
all it did was make is so you can have a chat going while in a game...
but you cant play and chat... you must press the PS button to like pause the game to chat...
also it sorts your friends list
thats all i remember actually..
they took the update down already? what happens to ppl who stil have it? nothing?
All i need for updates is more content in the store and more content for home... as far as firmware.. im golden... :)

We also demand that our "centre of media entertainment system" to actually be the centre by making it support all the codecs that are currently used; instead of relying on a PC in the next room transcoding and streaming content to the PS3!

I got the update before it was taken off. Copy and paste is useful for sending my mates cheats lol.
