Quote: Does anyone know how to put you game save to a SD card? We need to hack that asap.
You don't need a hack for a gamesave. You stick the SD card in your wii, move the gamesave over to the SD card, and *magic* the save is on your SD.
Now, what I'm assuming you want to do is have an US gamesave and move it to your wii. It's basically the same process, but backwards. Find the gamesave (which there probably isn't one right now), move it to your SD card (make sure you have the directories correct), then put the SD card in your wii and move the gamesave to your wii.

I ripped SSBB and tried to burn it to a 4.7 gig DVD. It worked surprisingly but I just have no story mode. I do however, have multiplayer.
Good for now I guess.

No its not 8.9 gigs.
It is exactly...
8,511,160,320 bytes . Which is around the max of a DVD9 I think.

Interesting...Maybe they changed that recently or maybe just for this game. I have been able to move Zelda files (a real one and the hacked one) to and from my SD card in the past.

Thanks for letting us know bro. I was at wits end until you saved the day. I'm definitely gonna give this a try. Cheers

yep.. i heard about that hack but this one will actually require some modifications to the system to bypass its protection.

When I try to transfer gamesaves of games from my SD card that I haven't had a gamesave file on my Wii yet, it will not let me and give me a message saying something like "You must first play the game".
Has anyone tried to burn this game using a Mac? I have a 95% success burn rate but haven't burned a dual layer dvd with it.

Ok, I thought this thread was disorganized before but its getting really bad now. Can we compile all the most useful information into one post and put it on the front page? Or even better, make a sticky with all the most useful info.
For example, it would say that the origional game disks dont work with wiikey, why they dont work, that backups do work and why, that rawdump cant dump the game but friidump can, the bitsize of a proper iso for the game, how to solder a switch to the wiikey, the wiikey firmware disable trick... I'm sure theres other things as well.
I'm just getting really tired of seeing someone new every time I look at the thread asking if we're all sure that the game wont work on a US wii if its a US game.

Originally posted by XSilvenX: Some guy posted a workaround on the psx scene forums. Supposedly if you mess up the wiikey via software then the Wii won't detect it and a RETAIL copy of Brawl will work. He says he tried it twice and it works.
- Get any update for the Wiikey 1.9b or 1.9g for example
- When the update is around 50-75% pull the plug on your Wii
- It should screw up the Wiikey and your wii won't be able to read burned discs
- Brawl should work
If it doesn't then it's probably a dirty lens..
It's a sort of on/off switch for the Wiikey because if you want to play burned games again all you have to do is use the Wiikey recover and update back to 1.9g and everything should go back to normal...and Brawl won't work..
So recap:
Turn Wiikey off -
Do an update and plug out the console during the update to render the Wiikey's chip software useless. Somehow this affects Brawl's code that allows it to figure out whether your Wii has a modchip or not and the regular US RETAIL Brawl should work..
Turn Wiikey on -
Use your Wiikey recovery cd to fix the Wiikey and re-update it back to it's normal settings with 1.9g and also don't forget to config 1.3 to switch back on whatever you had..
I am 100% sure this works.. Yes it's time consuming as hell but it's really the only thing we have for now..atleast until the Wiikey team releases an update for the Wiikey that somehow circumvents Brawl finding the chip.
What I did exactly... in simple easy to read steps
1. downloaded 1.9b from the Wii firmware updates thread that is stickied to this forum.
2. burned it
3. proceeded with the update as normal then at 70% I plugged out the cable on the back of my Wii..then waited for like 15 seconds (for no reason)
4. When I turned my Wii back on the 1.9b disc couldn't be read so I figured the Wiikey was not working... THIS IS GOOD
5. I popped in Brawl and splish splash BOOM.the "Super Smash Bros Brawl" intro came up.
6. I smiled... and posted this thread.
YAY Now to go and play Brawl. Spread the word everyone!
Just wanted to add that you have to use an updater that's different from your current version, like if you have 1.9g, you need to use the 1.9b to properly disable the wiikey. Thanks alot for this trick, though has anybody else had issues with the slot loading drive acting up? Also the restore disk was kind of confusing, you just have to leave it in the drive to restore the original firmware correctly, not load it as a GC game or w/e.

Back again, I did the recovery disc after effectively bricking the wii (backups not even recognized, originals recognized but wouldn't load). Thankfully, it reverted the wii back to when it was first modded (backups load, SMG doesn't, Brawl original Doesn't). I tried the trick again, this time using the 1.9g beta upgrade. I disconnected the power to the wii at 60% this time.
Again, backups would not even work. Brawl would come up and be recognized in the game disc channel, but when I go in, it wouldn't load past the part where it asks if you want to save. Other original games would not load after the ESRB warning either.
The problem I had w/ Brawl seems similar to the one Cecy had w/ his backup copy, i.e. it would ask him to save, then it wouldn't load any further. Of course, his fix was to burn it at a different speed on a different media, but since I'm having the same prob but w/ the ORIGINAL, I can't do this.
I guess it just wasn't meant to be for me to play brawl today. I'll wait until a proper version is on newsgroups and download that one to play I guess.
Question to XSliverX: Did you actually PLAY the game, or did you just see the SSBB logo on your game channel and assume that it would work?

If some gathers the info - I can edit the 1st page and post it.
But will that or a sticky stop all the same questions & becoming disorganized - very, very doubtful. The same thing would happen along with numerous redundant threads popping up.

Guys, I've been trying to dump Super Smash Bros, but I'm having problems, I've downloading friidump 0.4.0 but the dump gives me an error at 49%. Do you guys know what the problem may be?
