I read somewhere that if you try to burn the DL iso to a single layer disk with imgburn it will just burn the first layer and vs mode will work. Never tried it myself though, I'm still working on getting the iso.

hey i just need a few questions answered
i have a us wii (3.2U) with the wiikey and the us ssbb. the origanil doesn't work as i hav heard. i do have friidump but i cant get it to work with my computer (vista).
1. how do i get friidump to work on vista
2. if i put the switch in like i have heard will i be able to play the origanil
3.if i get friidump to work will i just have to burn it to a dual layer disc the same way i do with other wii backups

Yeah, and that one seeder is ME lol
I have all my other torrents shut off so thats the only thing running... my max upload speed is ~90-120kb/s...
As far as renaming it so it doesnt spread to other trackers... I dont really care where it goes. If it helps people without the special LG drive that you need to make a backup copy of your game so you can actually PLAY what you bought and payed for, then I dont care where it goes...

I managed to rip SSBB from retail US and I was wondering if you could varify the bit size you have with mine to see if it is matching so I know my rip is good as well.
Also did you try opening the ISO with RegionFrii to see if it had a region code of USA or not becuase I attempted to open it and it said invalid ISO yet the file size is 7.92 from my rip
Bite size is : 8,511,160,320 bytes

yeah I wish there was a concrete way, i'm fiddling around with it right now to see if i can even get it to burn

dsab-when it comes to newsgroups, im about as newb as they come lol! To be honest with you, I dont even know exactly what one is. But if sombody wants to school me on how to, i'd be more than happy to hook it up...
AcidRifle-I've never run anything thru RegionFrii since I have an NTSC-U Wii and I only buy and play NTSC-U software so I cant help you there...
But, I can tell you that your byte size is right on the money... same size I have....

I have a US 3.2U Wii as well thats why I wanted to ask if it was the same byte size
I purchased Memorex DVD + DL dvds today tested one and still get disc error so I wanted to compare from what you had since you've had success, although I am obtainin the ISO now from you
What app and settings did you use to burn the image to disc?

I CAN NOW PLAY A BACKUP OF MY ORIGINAL SSBB (US) VERSION ON MY WIIKEY.
I used memorex +r DL and burned at 2.4x speed. The kids are playing right now.
So the whole process:
Friidump version 04 to dump the game. Img Burn to burn to dvd9 (DL media)Used Memorex + r DL media burned at 2.4x
Bytes Size: 8,511,160,320
(My first burn was at 1x on Verbatim + r DL and it did not work)

No I did not use the layer break. It loaded right up just like any other game.

Mine was the same as Cecy except I used a WINDATA DVD+R Dual layer disk.
I also did no changing to the layer break. I use IMGBURN v2.3.2.0 and have done no changes to the default settings at all...
@Cecy - Great to hear you got it working! :) You were using the exact same process as me, so it didnt make any sense why it wasnt working. Guess it was just a bad burn the first time around... either way, congrats!
That makes two of us now hehe...
Perhaps if there was a torrent out there you could help seed ;)

For the Dump I used GDR 8163
For the Burn I used an external Sony DRU 710A at 2.4x speed

More then likley burning at 1x is why he had issues. To slow of a burn can cause just as much issues as burning to fast.

Alright, so now that we have a working rip maybe someone can tell me something I've been wondering for weeks. Does the US version of the game read the japanese save file or do I have to start over and unlock all the characters again?

not feeling very confident since I just got home from buying Verbatim +R DL's hahaha
I really hope its working for you now since you burnt it at 2.4x...
Ive actually heard before that burning slowly can cause problems... I usually burn things at 4x. I'll try 2.4x for SSBB

hey when i try to use friidump i get a error that says
"the volume does not contain a recogized file sytem.
please make sure that all reuired file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted"
does anyone know what i am doing wrong i just want to play my game
