I am using Dvd shrink 3.2 combined with Nero 7. Dvd shrink encodes the DVD backup just fine, and the burning process goes without any errors. Yet once the DVD is done being burned, I look at the bottem and theres only about a half inch of data on the disc. I go to play it in my dvd player and the movie starts at a random spot, and ends shortly.

I have tried Switching Nero 7 to Nero 8, with no luck. Everything was going good before my HDD died, and I had to start fresh. I have not changed any components. Would buying a new drive fix this? Does ANYONE have any suggestions?

the burner may be bad or it could be poor quality media and to high of a burn speed. post a nero log.

use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim burning at 8x max

Posting the Nero log, as suggested by Zoso would provide us some detailed information that would be most helpful in ascertaining where the problem is.

Can you explain?

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

Stupid question, but how do I post the nero log? I am using Sony DVD+R's, so I really don't think that it is the media. For some reason I can't change the burn speeds. I have the choice of Maximum or 20x.

Yes I can! My Hard Drive failed in which I had to RMA it back to the manufacturer. I had to start new installing Windows and formatting the drives. NOW I have this problem with burning, which is getting extremely frustrating.

About a year or so. It's just odd that it was working fine before my hard drive crashed.

I use a SATA drive, does that make a difference?

Which one do I re-install? I thought I tried this already.

Well DMA is on now, here's my newest log. Still getting the same problem....I'm starting to think that the drive is just bad, But I want your opinion before I shell out the money. What else could be causing this? I have uninstalled/installed my drives driver multiple times...Seriously about a month ago it was working just fine. Then I got my new Hard Drive and now I can't do shit with this drive.

since your DMA is on and you are still having the same problems i would say the drive is bad. you could try a different brand of media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and make sure you are burning at 8x max. good news is ODDs are only about 25.00 to 30.00 dollars for a good one

Well something we did WORKED!!!! I appreciate all of your help Zoso, got a lot more help then what I was expecting :)I think the DMA may have been effecting it, even though it is a SATA drive. I sorted out my drivers and now my device manager looks a little more like it's supposed to.

Cheers!
