Here is my problem, when I turn on the PSP, the UMD drive is reading or spinning w/ no disc on the drive. (I tried to open the empty UMD drive tray, the circle icon disappears, and when closed the circle icon appears) The only thing shown on the screen is the "waves background", (original theme) and an animating "circle icon" on the bottom-right corner of it. The XMB doesnt appear. I tried to wait for some time, and my custom theme worked, only to see that the screen is sorta fading/shaking. Then after a while, the message "Disc cannot be read" appears (theres no disc on the drive), and thats the only time when i was allowed to turn the PSP off. (yes, while the circle icon shows, it isnt possible to turn it off.)
**(Recovery Mode) I tried disabling the cxmb plug-in for i thought that the cxmb must be corrupted, but still, it didnt change things when i turned my psp on at first.
**Second time I turned it on (w/o plug-ins), it was normal. So I think there is something wrong with the PSP hardware.
Another problem is that, when I am about to start playing ISO games, it just suddenly asks "Do you want to quit this game?", (like the home button activates itself without me pressing it. It happens multiple times) The 'Home' key doesn't seem to be stuck.
**I used a different MMC, which has emulators in it. I still had my first problem, but the home button didnt appear. It seems that there is a problem with the UMD reader too.
Is there a way to fix this? I've heard others had experienced this problem as well. Thanks!
www.maxconsle.net had a video on helping me take apart my nds maybe they have psp videos to www.focalprice.com has cheap spares www.youtube.com look for guides on there watch it first to see if its in your capability and the guide is clear dont want to get half way through it to find he mumbles or you cant see properly
You can buy a complete UMD drive, if the unit is still seeing discs all the time then that is the main suspect. However it is a major strip down to replace, read plenty of guides
@Mickoz74: YouTube has guides, but there are guys who had the same problem as mine with no solution xD
@kittymat: at certain times it doesnt, but after a reboot it does malfunction again. Inserting a UMD was a temporary fix. Thanks I have read that guide before. Is it true that using a key cleaner would help? :/
