i have a problem with my wii, it was running good no freezes black screens disc errors or anything then i bought a ps3 yesterday and brought it home i placed it right next to my wii which was in standby mode(red light) i played my new ps3 for like 2-3 hours then turned it off i didnt noticed it blew out hot air to the wii ( the side towards the ps3 on the wii was really hot while the other side was cold)I turned on my wii and after the health warning push A it froze on the black screen then several restarts it goes to the main screen with the channels but always stays black when i click start on a game or when i try and access the system setting or memory, i think the PS3's heat might have messed up the wii,i now know it was dumb to keep them together im not sure if the wii became corrupted or i dont know sometimes it boots all the way to the channels menu, ill let it cooldown over night and see if it was just excess heat frm the ps3.Ive been doing some research like an hour to see if i can reset the wii maybe that will help, i see these savemii and bootmii twilight hack, ect but its all unclear to me, if you guys could help me out, is it totally bricked due to the heat or is it corrupted?

Wow, I've never heard this before.
But I do know that PS3 does let out quite a bit of heat.

I hope it's working again.
If it's a heat related problem then savemii, bootmii and the twilight hack won't help you.

It would still be a brick in that it's functionality would be zero. Just not in the way that the term is usually used around here.

I have my ps3 sitting right next to my wii within a enclosed tv cabinet on the same shelf for the past 2 years and have never had this problem.
The heat generated from a ps3 is alot but wouldnt of thought it would damage the WII even the heat generated from having both on at the same time wouldnt be enough to kill your WII i would of though.

you'd be surprised. I've had to do alot of repairs to cabinet contained hardware such as tuners and dvd players because of heat being blown off by a tuner releasing heat from the top or sides. Think of this simple logic.. why do they put fans in the equipment? To keep it cool and stop overheating.. So lets take a ps3 aim the exhaust port towards a NON-running wii and the heat will build up inside it just as if it was running, except.. theres no fan... You over heated the wii possibly damaging some components. Let it cool off and try using it afterwards.

luckily its back to normal just needed to cool down during the night, yeah the PS3's a mammoth compared to the wii. it wasnt the rear fan exhaust i had pointed to it( the wii) it was sideways ( PS3) didnt notice the ps3 blew heat front the front too. Their far away now, so hopefully no more heat problems, works like new again so i guess no long term damage.

thanks for the replies, hopefully it helps somebody avoid this. and they werent even in an enclosed cabinet or entertainment center just on top of a table close together, just large amounts of heat coming out of the ps3 top, side and rear poor wii took it all for 2-3 hours, its running good now though.
