Can't switch ps3 back to my non-HD TV

ok so i bought a HDMI cable to play my ps3 downstairs on my HD TV. i hooked it up nd wus playin it downstairs on my tv but when i tried hookin it up back upstairs in my room to my non-hd tv the screen remained black. so i thought maybe i had to hook it back up to my HD TV nd change the settings again for it to work again upstairs. so i tried plugged it back up to the tv downstairs, plugged in the HDMI cable, also the colored AV cables and tried to change the display back to the 480i which works on regular tv's. i picked the av cable selection, then it asked me to pick some goofy number wit letters in it or somethin that wus spelled wit only 3 letters. i tried both nd none worked. i even tried changin the resolution back to 480I but didnt work on my non-HD Tv still. So my question is how can i fix this? or is it permanent once we select to use an HDMI cable?

ok i figured it out. i jus have to turn it off nd hold the power button for 5 seconds nd it resets the resolution settings back to normal for standard TV. ...who woulda knew..(someone who read the book) lol
