Just built it. I started last year when I bought a PC from a shop all pre built. It was an AMD 64 3200+ with 1 gig ram but the video card was woefully inadequate for what I wanted so I got an BFG 6800 Ultra OC. It was okay for the time and could run Doom 3 and HL2 no probs). I had that 9 months and then I wanted to build my own as I had never done it. Started about 2 months ago with the CPU and new mobo and case. Then I bought one 7800GTX and it seemed pretty amazing. Then I got to thinking....man I'll just build one and keep going. So I bought yet another 7800GTX but then my CPU was the problem. I had the 3700+ but that was not quick enough for two 7800's so the FX-57 was the obvious choice. All in all it has cost me £1'500 (roughly $2'700 USD) which is so cheap when you look at pre built PC's. It should last me a while but already I'm waiting for Sli2 so I can get PCIx16 on both cards!

My rig: Intel Q9650 3.0Ghz, ATI Radeon 4870 X2 2048Mb, 6Mb DDR2 6400 RAM, Asus Rampage Formula X48 Motherboard.

imo, latley ati has just been trying to put faster cards on the market, faster ram, and gpu mhz, not quality. To keep with nvidias awesome cards. And there not all about quality as nvidia is,(even in the drivers!) bottline ati is all speed, no quality.
