Can I take advantage of the expertise in this thread and ask another question about AnyDVD? Slysoft advises to copy your registration key incase you need it for later. When I started to copy it(the entire AnyDVDfolder) to a CD I get a pop up error box. It's called:
CONFIRM STREAM LOSS and it says "the file "key-AnyDVD" has extra information attached to it that might be lost if you continue copying. The contents of the file will not be affected.Do you want to copy the file anyway?
I'm not sure what to do? How do you copy your registration key so you have it incase you need it again? What exactly do you copy, your entire AnyDVD folder? What about this pop up message I get? Thank you.

I saved the key that Slysoft sent to me to the desktop and then saved it to a floppy disc. So, go into the original e-mail or your registry and save it.

C:\Programs\Slysoft\AnyDVD
Copy the key and don't worry what Windows has attached to it, that's the registry info. You can download a trial and with just the key, the app registers.

I don't think so. If I remember correctly, that's why they tell you to print it out/ or write it down and put it on floppy or cd. Because they can not give it to you, if you lose it. You'd have to buy another key...

Good info. I hadn't paid attention to that being there, but I've never had to retrieve a key from SlySoft. About the only time I've heard of Slysoft ignoring a support request was when the user couldn't verify being a legitimate owner of the software. Your info appears to confirm that.

I knew they said it! I found my original email from them. I'm doing a copy and paste of it below. Note the line I made bold, at end of letter:
SlySoft order number: *edit out*
Dear Mr. *JVC*,
Thank you for your purchase at SlySoft.com.
This e-mail contains important registration information. Therefore we
recommend that you make a backup of this e-mail.
You will find your license key(s) attached to this e-mail. Some e-mail
programs and internet providers do not allow attachments. In this case
please use the following links to download the license key(s):
1 x AnyDVD:
*Edit out*
Please note: We recommend making a backup of this file(s) as the URLs are
valid for 7 days only.
How to unlock a product using a license key:
To activate a licence, please save the keyfile to your harddisk (to your
desktop for example) and double-click it. The demo version of the product
you purchased must have been installed previously. After a restart, your
product is unlocked and registered to you.
Please make a safety backup of your license keyfile(s) on a floppy disk or
CD and keep it in a safe place. In case that your system has to be
rebuilt, you will be able to unlock the software again with this file(s).
We cannot replace your license key in case you lost it!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have any questions, please reply to this e-mail or contact our
support team at http://www.slysoft.com/support.html.
Sincerely,
Your SlySoft Team
So, if they're giving you back, your lost key, that's a new service they've started, since I bought mine. There, in black & white, they said that they cannot replace it if lost.
I feel better, now that I know I'm not losing my mind! :o)

LOL About the time they told us they were raising the price of the software. Note the $10 jack. Now they can afford the extra support efforts. ;)
DADEO1
Key, License, Serial... not all the same. Your serial can be found under Information when you open AnyDVD on the Desktop. The key is what registers the software. It should be located in the folder with the rest of the program files (C:\Program Files\Slysoft\AnyDVD). It appears as a page with a tiny red fox and is labeled Key - AnyDVD Registration Key, it can be double clicked or opened with RegAnyDVD for registration purposes. If you want to see the contents, you can open the Key with Notepad. In that alphanumeric chain is your name, serial, and registration info.
Your proven purchase is your license to use the software and all that info is located in the key.
