think dat was aload of bull. . but a mate of mine dat duze wrk n n~l told me dat . . did'n think e was the lyin type, muat pull him on it

well i was told plug it out for tv and ntl cable and leave couple days put on now was gone just changed codes on it came so ill risk it lol

You will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F.

If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable.

These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay.

All firmware/loader can be found in the link at the end of my post marked Eamos Library.

You will need the GTromloader, (Starvi*w Software Uploader), found in the Starvi*w software folder of the link.

You will need version 4.00 firmware for GENUINES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder.
You will need version 2.57_FIXED firmware for CLONES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder.


Updating Firmware

Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starview does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)

Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT
that matches the one that is being used

Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded it to on your PC.

Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase
then Download completed message on your PC.
Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE pop up on your PC before
removing the NULL MODEM CABLE. The Starvi*w will then reboot

Turn off and turn back on , then plug your tv cable and scart back in

Hi all i have starview the box and i plugged it out last weekend when i heard stories about n*l trying to send a signal down the line to block them. When i plugged it back in last sunday i havent been able to get any signal and when i do an automatic scan it finds no channels. I then entered the new codes for the galway area even thou my box usually updates itself but still cant get any signal after updating the codes manually. Also in the main menu i cant get into parental control or channel edit the colour they are written in has changed to green colour and wont let me into their options. I have tryed everything to get it goin again and the antenna input is in the correct hole at the back....Anybody any help or suggestions ????????????

Put coax into cable in on the back of the SV not ANT in. Press menu, type 1570 on remote and enable key emu. No need to do an autoscan unless you have done a factory reset.
