Is there a confirmed patch for DVDXCopy Platinum?

I know that the newer versions of 321 Studios programs have all been neutered, and I've found some solutions that some say work and others don't to get the ripper back into 4.X. Something about backdating the Patin-Couffin drivers. Is there anyone that knows for certain if there's a patch or something for the ripper, or at least some kind of workaround by using DVD Decryper or something?

Nice nick :) Bizarre coincidence as I'm listening to them right now.

Have you tried DVD43? It is made to work with XCopy and bypass the CSS.

Alternatively, DVD Decrypter will work fine to rip the movie for later use with XCopy.

Yes there is a patch. It's called DVD Shrink. Nod nod, wink wink.

that link will give you the last ripper version v.4.0.3.8 Or if you want to use the RF version just download DVDDecrypter. Save it to a video ts file and when you open the RF version browse for that video ts file. The RF version still allows you to compress and burn. Just make sure you have 8-10GB on your hard drive since most DVD's are just under 8GB.

I want to poast something about dvdxcopy that I think is close to breaking the form rules. I have been reading the rules But I still don't know. Who do I talk to to find out?

If this means you will write something against the rules or are exceedingly angry with 321 studios then you are better of throwing darts at a pic of their logo. The fact is you bought the version of their software that no longer includes the copyright remover, but you must have known about this, especially in view of all the reports recently? Unfortunately there is no way round it. I suggest you downlaod DVD Shrink which is infact a better ripper than DVDXCopy anyway and will do everything you hoped for in backing up your movies, including burning directly with Nero if that is your default burning-rom. Best of all it's totally free. Always check the settings first.

I agree. If you're having problems with DVD Xcopy then try with DVD Decrypter/DVD Shrink. With those 2 programs you can make backups of your DVD's for free since Decrypter will write and read ISO's and Shrink can also read and write in ISO format. In fact, if you have the output files set to ISO format you can put a check in the box that tells the program to burn automatically with decrypter.

One thing I would like to mention is that Spyware, for me, at least probably caused most of my problems while trying to figure out why backup software or backups themselves wouldn't work right. Spybot just released a new version of Spybot Search & Destroy that removed some Spyware that was very problematic (CoolWWW.XSearch, etc...) that had gotten in the system somehow and was hijacking my homepage as well as links in Google.

The new version can reside in IE to stop spyware in its tracks - grab the latest version here: http://www.safer-networking.org/.
