I'm sitting here in amazement at the number of threads I have gone into read tonight where the authors haven't bothered to read the forum rules!
The rules are there for a reason and there are three things that I'd like to bring to all newbies attention if I may - in the hope you'll all read this!

I know from experience that using this function has answered 90% of my queries - hence I lurked around alot before actually posting. This is a personal peeve of mine - please please please put relevent information in your thread or post topic. It really does help those who can help you. For example if I see a thread on converting avi to vob or the like, I won't even go into read that thread. Why, cause I know nothing about it and don't at this stage need to, so I'd have nothing to contribute.
By saving me the time of entering the thread I can then go read another one - and hopefully imput something helpful.
So come on and fess up! how many of you have actually read the forum rules?

A poll about reading forum rules posted in a forum for DVD Help. Hmmm...i wonder if the poster read the forum rules and realised it should be in the All Other Topics forum or the Safety valve....lol :D

I dont think its a matter of reading the rules... when you've seen as much crap as ive seen, you start wondering if these people can read period.
Then there are the people who pirate something, lie about it and think they are clever because they think the rest of us can't tell its a lie. ARGH!

Have to admit i havent read the rules but your right i have seen a lot of ppl ask some realy stupid questions about piracy. At some time common sense has to prevail. I guess some ppl dont have any.

Forum rules, huh, what the heck is that. I though this was a free forum to post anything. That's a bummer :(
Now i know from experience about getting booted. It was a long time ago, cause i didn't read the forum rules, and i posted a link to answer someone's question. OOPS. Well needless to say i learned my lesson after that and read the rules. THOROUGHLY. Gee, i wonder why i haven't been BOOMED yet? HMMMMMM
Going along with madbaz, commonsense is no longer common. Maybe they should rename it to raresense, since so few people have it now. I think all the Mods and addicts have this raresense, maybe except Praetor and Oriphus.

Should make it when they go to post, tick have you read the forum rules, When they go Submit show them the rules, and ask them again, and if they agree and they havent, give Praetor the joy of BOOM!ing them :D

Nice post grogey. I've read the rules from time to time if I questioned whether or not what I was going to post would border on breaking one. Once you've seen a few posts where people get to "retire early," it should be enough to make you scan over them anyway.

It wasnt Praetor as he wasnt Mod back then, most likely our buddy Shoey - but hey - thats life. I was kicked out of a forum about 10 times for using fowl language - but thats just me.

Oriphus, Didn`t Dela ban you once jokingly. I remeber thats when he saw the button next to Da boss name. I dared him, but he didn`t think the boss would find it as funny.
Rules, we have rules? But to be honest, yes I am a geek and yes I read the rules. I almost read them twice untill I noticed the link was the same on different thread.

This is a good thread. I really do wonder how many people read the rules.
You could do a stats assignment on it, read rules and were banned. Didn't read the rules and now an Addict or Mod.

Much agreed. Some Mods are compete pricks (other forums). That has been one of the major reasons why this was the first forum I ever joined.

I think this thread needs a newbie to represent. I have to confess to reading the forum rules. In fact I've actually searhed for information and found answers to my numerous questions and learned alot in the process. I've only been aware of afterdawn for about a month and already I'm amazed at the crap people ask...Can I say crap?
Hopefully being a smart ass isn't against the rules! :)
