Sony has announced they will be bringing Major League Baseball to the PS3, in one of the biggest streaming deals announced in the history of the console.
Peter Dille, senior vice president of Sony Computer Entertainment America, agrees: "This is one of the biggest deals we're bringing to the PS3, and it won't be the last one, there's lots of conversations going on."

Some services may be provided automatically without notice when you are online, and others may be available to you through SCE's online network or authorized channels. Without limitation, services may include the provision of the latest update or download of new release that may include security patches, new technology or revised settings and features which may prevent access to unauthorized or pirated content, or use of unauthorized hardware or software in connection with the PS3? system.
Additionally, you may not be able to view your own content if it includes or displays content that is protected by authentication technology. Some services may change your current settings, cause a loss of data or content, or cause some loss of functionality. It is recommended that you regularly back up any data on the hard disk that is of a type that can be backed up.
What particularly caught our beady eye is the sentence "Some services may be provided automatically without notice when you are online" which basically means that Sony can do whatever the hell it wants to do to the content of your PS3 without notifying you or asking your permission.
The point is that Sony forces users to sign an agreement which allows you to use a piece of hardware which you have paid for, but allows Sony to make any changes they see fit to the way the console operates without notification or permission.
Well doesn't that just suck and if you don't do the update you cannot play legally purchased games because you do not have the latest firmware. I love SONY but WTF!
Why is there people hating on Sony? So what if you have to update. Just update and you can play your games online. Simple at that. If you don't like it, then don't update. You do have a choice. for geestar20. Man I hope Sony gets NFL Network!! That would be awesome!
Who cares about updating? For a system that doesn't break down or charge for online play I figure it's not a bad deal. What is this fear or updating? There are people who got all up in arms about linux being removed who never even used it. They're not stealing our information or anything so what's the big deal? I'd rather update and get 3D games, 3D movies eventually, streaming services etc than a Linux option hich really wasn't all that great to begin with.
Also, this MLB thing is so promising. I can imagine fights coming next, then NBA then NFL. Then...well. Sky's the limit.
What would be even better is if you could get your favorite team. MLB, NBA, and NFL I only have one favorite team in each league. If I could just get my teams games that would be great.
I'm pissed....I have not used my PS3 in a month because of the stupid updates. I don't want to lose linux...and I want to know if something is getting updated.

Unless Sony releases another firmware that has the potential to 'brick' your system...
