i am new to all this and I have been trying to shrink a DVD using dvd shrink. I am able to rip the dvd fine but when i try to shrink it my pc shuts down completely and wont start up for a while after that. It occurs a bit after 50% progress. It happens on no other applications on my pc. Can anyone help me please?

Are you running any other programs while using shrink? Does it give any error messages, or just shuts it down completely? Some computer specs would be helpful. O/S, ram?.

Seems like it may be a heat related problem. Encoding is very CPU intensive and may be creating too much heat.

If it is affected by heat then do I install another fan? Does an upgraded cpu help? Im running a 2.66G intel chip at the moment. Does changing to athlon (i think thats the name!) help?

Kolindros,

Are you using a laptop or desktop?
What type of Cpu is it(Celeron or Pentium)?
How much ram is installed?
What other types of Dvd or Cd software are you running?
What version of Windows are you running?
What other programs are running in the background?

All of these things can have an effect on your PC when you are trying to Back up a Dvd.

Yes, I know I am a smart ass!
