That error in Shrink usually means your original DVD is dirty or damaged. Check the original for scratches or smudges.

Dumb question. Has that DVD played on your stand alone player or PC?
What sequence are you using your software in?

I am having a similiar problem. I used DVD Shrink and copied a movie to my hard drive (I think), then I read the guide and realize I was doing something wrong (granted it took about 2 hours to copy)Then I did the shrink again. And at the very end (almost 2 hours) I got an error message. I played around with shrink a little bit and it "analyzed" the movie (whatever that means). So I tried to burn the movie from my hard drive using Roxio, and I get an error message saying that it's not a valid audio file, or something. I am completely new to this (just got my burner yesterday), and I am sooooo confused. Please help me out.

Hi guys, Every once in a while we hear of a brand new dvd that gives CRC errors. It sometimes turns out to be slightly damaged files on the new dvd. They aren't bad enough to show up just playing the movie, but will cause the error when trying to rip it to the hard drive. Since commercial dvd's are pressed from a master not burned, even exchanging the dvd for a new one may not help. Some systems and burners will read through the error, others won't.
Biggtone, you stated you use shrink, then decrypter. Do you mean decrypter as the burn software. If so do you have it set to auto burn. Less errors that way.
ms_twana, Roxio is reguarded as a poor choice to burn dvd backups. Best to un-install it and use either Nero 6 or Decrypter as the burn software with Shrink. Check the guides for whatever you choose.

Thanks Jerry! I have DVD Decrypter but it wouldn't burn automatically because of the error (I assume). So what do I need to do? Do I need to shrink it again?

Hi everyone,
I keep getting an error message when using DVD Shrink that says that DVD Shrink can't read from the drive. What does this mean and how do i get the DVD Shrink to analyze my movie.
Please help.

Hi biggtone1, Go into your device manager and remove the burner drive. Then restart your computer and let Windows find it and reinstall the drive. That might help.
ms_twana, Yes I would try to start a new backup with Shrink from the beginning.

Hi dbridg2, Try this, play the original movie a few seconds with your software player.(powerdvd-Windvd)Then stop the movie and start up Shrink and see if it reads the DVD. Shrink sometimes need a little kick. Actually you arew unlocking the drive by doing this. It usually helps depending on the actual error you are getting.

ms_twana can you give us your specs? O/S, processor speed, ram. Also when backing up, don't run any other programs, not even being online. Also you could try temporarily turning off any antivirus or firewall programs.

Microsoft ME uses FAT32, so your limited to files under 4GB. ISO imagaes are over 4GB. You'll always have problems this way. You'll have to create video_ts files or convert you hd from fat32 to ntfs.
