using dvd shrink w/nero or roxio

every time i try to shrink a dvd and then burn it back with nero or roxio it burners but when i play it back after the first hour of the movie it gets choppy and distorted any help would be great

To answer your question, choppiness is often caused by low-quality media. What have you been using?

I had poor luck using Sony media and they're over priced. I like using Verbatim branded or TDK. Try switching media first. Also some(and I'm one) would tell you to uninstall Nero and Roxio ... choose one and re-install. I recommend keeping Nero.

I would agree with Flip218 - Roxio and Nero tend to not play well together and many others have experienced problems with both these programs on the same machine - consensus apprears to be to uninstall Roxio.
