hey.I know yas have posted alot on speeding up downloads for BitTorrent, but im still confused. I have ADSL 256/128. I know that aint the best, but i should be getting faster speeds than what i have been. And i dont understand all this router stuff. So if ya could dumd it down so that i can config this easily that would be great.
tell me about it. what i wanna knoe is how u can make bittorrent go faster like all the other people said. right now the download spped is between 0-2..that is extremely slow! i heard that u can make it go faster by changing the number in the port by going to this IP page. but i tried it..it always said no page find..suxy.
Well this will be a very very very very very quick tutorial
Well you should be using Bit Tornado (Shadow's Experimental) if you are NOT a noob at this:
1.In Bit Tornado go to prefs and change the ports to [6881-60000] (Yes 60000 because they have some hidden people on high ports).
2.Now got to advanced, on 'prefs' screen, and change the local ip to what it is on your computer(i.e. 192.168.10.100[If you're using D-link it'll look like this except .10.100 it should be between .10.100-.15.106, if you understand that, it's your ip ending two numbers.
3.If you havn't noticed yet your upload speed is very hight but your DL speed is extremely low. To fix this just take your settings off of unlimited because if you have too much outgoing data which means your incoming data is being "pushed back" by the outgonig data. So to fix this change you settings to 'dsl/cable slow' and just bring down you upload speed so your DL speed will sky rocket.
4. This is the end ask someone else about the Win XP firewall
Hey supasonic, I did all the things you said, i put me IP address in, did the port thing so that they are up to whatever it is you said to put em on think it was (6881-6000), and well i did everything, i restarted BT and started downloading, but still nothing, im still downloading slow, plz more help
Sounds like the problem is you have a firewall of some type which is blocking incomming connections on the port. First you need to find out if this is the case so try this (I can only describe how to do this in Bit Tornado but these are bit torrent preffrences and should be similar in other clients.) got to preferences there is a check box called
Force icon to display green when firewalled.
I have Bit tornado 2.0 I think and it is the bottom of the list of check boxes under preferences.
Uncheck this box. Now if the little lamp shows yellow when your torrent is down loading then you are probably blocked from receiving connections by the firewall, this will slow your torrents down to a crawl. I will tell you how to fix in the next post this one is getting very long.
Fixing when you are blocked by firewall from receiving connections on port.
The Port is 6881 thru to 6999 what you have to do is find out what is blocking you, if you have a firewall installed on your computer or between you and the internet then that is it. I have a simple firewall built into my dsl modem which blocked this as well so there may be more that one block. Find your firewall settings and add a service for Bittorrent and allow connections on the port range listed. This is different from normal connections because these connections are comming into your system without you tcping them. I don't know about xp firewall I have an xp machine and I could not find xp firewall. I have zonealarm free version and it did not block this port after I setup my bittorrent client to act as server and to connect to internet. Good luck you can tell when you have unblocked the port because the little lamp on your client should go green while downloading.
i have used bit torrent and i use azeures to download. i only get yellow and i have forwarded all my ports and i get slow as downloads. it says i have a NAT error wats that and how do i fix it???? pleaseeeeeeee help me
