It is most likely a service disruption. I would contact sony. I have you ever been able to connect to the PSN?

maybe its your firewall settings. can you browse the net? you using wifi or ethernet?

But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

no it wouldnt. why would a us person have a japanese ps3 if they released the same day? im pretty sure an update from another region would brick it possibly but thats only wha i've heard.

does anyone have a problem w/ folding at home, that when using wifi it never uploads your work unit because of a network connection error. 5 nights in a row and several time before, i've come to an idle ps3 running folding at home and wasting power because f@h can ever reconnect to the internet if the signal is distrupted.

It was 150 usd cheaper, that's the only reason I got it. Don't really need to play ps1 and 2 games on it because I have a ps2, so I figured what the hell get a jap ps3 and save some cash. Thanks for your reply though!

I feel like hurting someone.
I was playing Resistance co-op last night with a friend, and when we got to a save point (about half way through the game), it tried saving but then showed an error. I don't remember the exact error code, but it said something about the data being corrupt. It continued to do this for all the saved points from then on. I exited out of the game and went to the xmb of the ps3. I then went back into resistance to see if my data was arlgiht, and all of it was gone! Even my single player mode where I've spent hours and hours of time. It's really depressing.

I'd be mad if this was because of a bug in the game. However, I'd be even more mad if this has something to do with a problem with my actual PS3, since I haven't bought a warranty. And ideas/help?

you probably shut off the power at the wrong time or something. or you didn't go to "save and quit" when you were done playing. there's something that cases all played data to not have really saved, and it reverts to your old save. i've lost 10+ gameplay hours to that. motorstorm went corrupt one day out of nowhere, and i lost 8+ hours of gameplay to that. i always back up my data in 3 places, hdd, memory stick, and external hdd.

No, I didn't even turn the game off at all when it went corrupt. The data was fine, and then I started played co-op with the friend, and then it gave the "corrupt" error all the sudden. I exited with the "save and exit" command, but it was all still corrupted. This sucks. But that's a good idea to back up all game saves. With the PS2 it wasn't as easy, but it should be easier with the PS3. How do you back them up? Just copy the save file or something?

I've had a problem while playing motorstorm online.
after playing for a long time, it has (during a race) all of a sudden just quit out to the XMB. it has only happened a few times. I even bought a small fan to put behind it, and it has only happen once since then.
any ideas?

Hi

I have just bought NHL 2K7 for the PS3 and the sound doesn't work on it. I've tried 2 copies of the game so it can't be the disk. All my other games work fine though. Can anyone help please???

Thanks
Paul

try going to system settings and going to audio setup. make sure its not outputing in a sound format your speakers or tv dont understand.

Hi all,

I have had no problems with my PS3 till now. I purchased it in early January. My PS3 has shut itself down right in the middle of a Tiger Woods '07 game and twice shut itself down during Folding at Home sessions. I wonder if a bug has been introduced with the 1.7 firmware upgrade as my PS3 never abruptly shut down like this before. Any information on PS3 random shutdowns to include resolution would be helpful.

Thank you.

i've heard of this, but i don't think its happened its probably just a minor glitch. i' sure with the next update, soon to come with the ps1 downloadable glitch problems, it will be gone.

I recently purchased a PS3, I bought Oblivion, when I put the game in it prompted me to Update to 1.51 or higher so I did. The install got to 99% and stayed after a hour of waiting I called sony, the rep told me to turn it off and Restart the ps3, so it did the same thing again. So now sony is going to replace of fix it, but Iam stuck with a brick for another 2 weeks. So i then thought I would go buy a hard drive and that might fix it, so I purchased a WD scorpio 120 serial ata. It prompted me to format the drive, but then My controller was not working. I'm really about to go OFFICE SPACE on this.

Question on the system update 1.81. I downloaded this software about two weeks ago after having my PS3 for about a month. The update does a great job on DVD's, however, it will not let me save any of my games to the hard-drive. I was playing MLB2k7 for about an hour & tried to save but no luck. It just froze on me & I couldn't get to the save screen.

Any advice? Is there something that I need to change to let this happen? Do I need to save on external memory?

ok i've tried to take out my ps3 hard drive an way possible, but that blue screw just wont budge!! i even tried an electric screwdriver and still nothing. my ps3 is a 60GB version and i need to take it out because i tried to reinstall linux 5.0 on my ps3 using a sdtv. everything went well the first time i installed it but when i tried the second time it came up with an error message saying it couldnt find something and how it needed to reboot..but when it did it was just a black creen, i couldnt see anything so i held down the reset button (cuz no usb ports were working either so i couldnt even turn it on with my control pad)and still nothing...the green light was on but that was it..just total darkness..i really dnt know what to do so if anyone does i would really appreiciate it.
