Being an extreme newbie, I am confused as to which Audio Track to select. For compression reasons, I selected a 2 channel track and ended up with the director's commentary throught the movie. Am I right to assume this was the problem? Are one of the 5.1 tracks correct? If so, how do I know which one? Any help greatly appreciated. Much Thanks from Alaska.

If you preview the movie before encoding you can right click on the preview window and select an audio track to make sure it's the one you want. Generally speaking, if there's a 5.1 stream followed immediately by a 5.1 stream in a different language and then a 2 channel in the native language below that, the last one is some type of commentary or other special audio.

If there is an AC3 6 channel sound or 5:1 sound in English its almost always safe to grab them. If there is only one of them its 100% likely to be the one to choose. Quite often the 2 channel sound contains the diretors comments and you only want to select it if you are going for the menus and extras. If there are no surround sound tracks and only a 2 channel track then you select that in your chosen language. If it's a rock concert and it has an AC3 2 channel track and a 2 channel PCM track then you'll want to select both.
