Just like to share my experiences with being new to "DVD Burning & have a little bit of insight into some things I did wrong in the beginning. First thing I did wrong was paid for commercial software that is actually inferior to some readily available "Freeware". I initailly used DVD X Copy express with limited success as it doesn't have many features that enable you to customise or re-author the disc, so next I upgraded to DVD X Copy "Platinum" which does however includes a great tool "Dvd X Rescue", but after all the trials & tribulations I use almost exclusively Shrink DVD & DVD 43. I would recommend this combo to anyone wanting to copy their own DVD's as you can chose what it is that you back up & burn to your newly created DVD. This freeware program enables you to choose what sound tracks & chapters etc & the best part, it is totally free !!! So I wouldn't spend one cent on buying expensive commercially available software again, use DVD Shrink and get great results.

If you're using DVD Shrink you don't need DVD43 - Shrink cracks the CSS, removes the Macrovision and makes the output Region-free.

NEC-2500A - Sony DVD-ROM
WinXP Pro w/ SP2, DVD Shrink - DVD Decrypter - Nero 7.x - CloneDVD2 & AnyDVD - DVD Fab - RipIt4Me

Welcome to our Club dvd4free, glad to have you here -
As has just been pointed out to you, DVD43 isn't really helping you as DVD Shrink can rip them all including Macrovision (which DVD43 cannot do).
However, you're missing a free burning tool, DVD Devrypter - See the guide at the bottom of this link and you'll be 100% FREE

1-DVD43 version 2 is no longer free (has been sold to makers makers of dvd idle). Use version 1.4 i think
2-Dvd 43/dvd idle etc come in handy when using shrink not for the css removal but, for me any way, the removal of region coding. I have found some NTSC dvd's wont play (and shrink wont rip) on my region 4 burners
Antec Plus View Case w 5 fans, Asus A8N Sli, Athlon 64 3500, 2gig PC3200, 7600GS x 2 graphics, 2x 120gb Sata2 Raid0, 2x 320gb Sata 2, 2x 250gb USB External, Aopen Com4824,Pioneer A08, Polyview 17' lcd x2

You're correct, DVD43 won't help with your region problem, it's only good for encryption.
However -
You have 2 excellent choices,
AnyDVD and DVDRegion-Free
Both are "Pay for" but they both handle region problems AND the encryption.

Pete

andys25,
It's the game that's protected.
We have several forums dealing with PS2, X-Box and Games, or you might want to start your own thread, you're a bit off the topic here,
Welcome to A/D
cheers,
Pete

ScubaPete, DVD43 v1.whatever will break the region coding as well, and its free
Quote: DVD43 remove all copyprotections from *MOST* VIDEO DVD, decrypting data when necessary.
Why most, and not all ? Because, if you insert a DVD incompatible with the regional setting of your drive,
it is possible that some small titlesets are not correctly decrypted. This is because the decryption key shall be
guessed from the data, and it's possible only on some sector. If no weakly encrypted sectors are present on a given
titleset, and if the DVD doesn't match drive' region, then this titleset will not be decryptable.
However, this is a RARE situation, in 99.99% of the case, DVD43 will be able to decrypt the full DVD, no matter
the region code match.
the media will be seen as a prohibition-free dvd, and the device region will always be seen as compatible
that was from the readme file. As of yet i havnt found a movie it cant break the encryption of
