When I burn a DVD to a disc everything goes great until right at the end when the DVD is finished and I still have the window 100% Burning that tells me burning has commenced, caching of files started and completed and I assume burning is 100% complete. The green progress line at the bottom is all the way across to the right and the only option button is cancel.
NOW, after waiting for an eternity this window remained. The busy light is no longer on on the DVD writer and it is not spinning. So I click Cancel. The hour glass pops up and stays there. At this stage it appears that it has hung. The only way to fix the problem is to re-start the computer, eject the DVD and every thing is fine.
The DVD appears to be normal and works fine in the DVD player. Haven't tried it on the PC as i don't intend watching them here anyway.
Any help would greatly be appriciated.
By the way can DVD shrink be used to decrypt DVD's as well?
Jubs,
That may just be a media problem. It sounds like the lead-out is almost completed then you are basically running out of good disc space to write to. This confuses the program, it is waiting for the the burner to complete the lead-out.
Try some better media, Verbatim or Ritek are usually pretty good.
Another thing to try is to go into Shrink and change the disc size:
Edit-> Preferences-> Target size-> change to custom and then reduce the size by 100-200 MB.
I've now changed the disc size but won't have time to try it out today. I'll let you know how it goes when I do. I think that may have been the problem as I backed-up a disc that was only 3500Mb and it worked perfectly. However I still need to try one out that has been 'shrinked'.
I normally use DVD Decrypter to save a disc to the HDD before backing it up. I've yet to try DVD Shrink to do this. I'll have a bit more of a play with it and see what happens.
Thanks very much for your help guys, it's much appreciated.
