I heard on the news this morning over here in the U.K. that the new film Fahrenheit 9/11 is causing a lot of controversy over in the states. Something to do with the links between President Bush's family and Osama Bin Laden's family.
What the hell is that all about?
Anyone seen the film yet?
BTW, I thought Harrison Ford was the president. He is in all the films I've seen.
'Indiana Bush and the Whitehouse of Doom'. No, don't recall seeing that one.

It's a michael moore film. The guy is a loser. He hates anything that's not communist or deeply socialist. Everything in his film has a rebuttle but you don't hear any other side but that bloated dumb-asses! I wonder if France will take him?!?! That would be great. He'd fit right in with the cheese eating surrender monkey's.

He's not as bad as u let on. His movie on guns on America was very true. I cant speak for Fahrenheit 9/11 as i havent seen it, but the other one was excellent in my book...

have to agree with you on this. The movie makes a lot of claims that simply cant be proven true...lot of half truths in it. Imagine if the advise on this board was full of half truths instead of honest answers. Even an answer such as "I dont know" would be better than that. Or maybe that is just the 6 year marine viet vet in me coming out. Anyway, this board is better off steering away from politics. Incidently Agent-K, if you ever see Michael Moore, he is not the rotunda, that is in the capital in D.C. :). Although if he was hollowed out, he would be just as large.

Not true at all, my friend. It was about as skewed and inaccurate as it gets.

So I take it that Michael Moore is not a very popular chap then.
I spent 2 weeks in France last year and the cheese is crap. Wine was o.k. though.
Are either of his films worth seeing? Or is it anti-government propoganda, cos I can't be arsed with that.

If you like cleverly done propaganda then go for it :) If you want a true documentary they can be found on The History Channel.

Yeah, im Irish :-D

Well, ill be the first to admit i don't know much about the situation. But what i do, and the rest of the world hear, is that America has too many guns and too many people are killed by guns each year in America. It is strange that Canada actually has more guns per head than America, yet no where even close to the amount of killings per capata in relation to the US...

Very true although I do think that based on "what we hear" -- which virtually, by definition, will always be "negative stuff", there is a tendency to group together both responsible gun ownwers with the not-so-responsible type -- which I hope and belive make up the majority of gun ownerrs. Again it's a classic case of "a few rotten apples..."

Yeah, responsible gun-owners are not the problem. But maybe stricter regulations are needed to try to eliminated the irresponsible ones. Although, as with anything, there is bound to be a strong black market for them.

Exactly, stricter rules are just gonna screw the people who obey them over. People who get guns illegally will still get them heehe

Wish I would have jumped back in on this conversation earlier, had stuff to do. OK, Michael Moore is not anti-gov, he's anti-Bush. He would like the rest of the world to think we hate our president which isn't true. Latest polls have Bush still above John Kerry for the running. Second, I'd have to disagree about canada having more guns than the states, we are the gun capital of the world for private citizens. It gaurantees that no gov will get too far out of line. We have gotten to a point now if our guns were taken away, crime would become even worse because the criminals who would still have guns would know the good people couldn't defend themselves anymore. To close, I'd say yes I hate the French and the froggy Joch Sheroch. I'm sorry but I think that western Europe has lost there balls. It was always about doing the right thing in the past, not so anymore. It seems like it's about doing the opposite of the U.S. No more blood for western Europe excluding the U.K. If this is the way we get treated for saving thousands of lives and improving quality of life for thousands more then I'd rather go it alone! We lost more lives in WWII than France and the U.K. combined! But yet we are dumped on. 40,000 U.S. soldiers are buried in France alone and yet their graves get defaced. Take your balls out of your spouses purse gents. I still love the U.K. though but I just don't understand them sometimes.

excellent points! you have said what a lot of people feel. I lost relatives in both ww1 and ww2 fightning in europe. We were good enough for them in 1917 and 1941, but not now? No more blood for western europe..that is a nice thought. One that I will ask my representative if they support. If they dont, I wont support them. I wonder at times, 'which one of them (europeans) is alive as a direct result of my family's sacrafice?' But I cant hold that thought too long or I start getting angry...excellent points Deeman.

Thanks, I just have to vent sometimes. They have even got islamic groups in the U.K. that state "U.K. will be the perfect islamic state". You Brits out there need to realize what's going on in the world and stop bastardizing america for your own problems. Don't get me wrong, not every brit feels this way but they sure have a lot that do. I think the U.K is the last bastion of hope for Western Europe in the right way of thinking. Let's wake up and realize who the real enemy is. It's not George Bush, he's the very least of the problem. Yes, america is far from perfect. But it seems to me it's so much easier blaming someone else for the problems that exsist in the world than looking in the mirror. If I had to blame the worlds problems on a foreign power who would it be? Let's see...When you can't figure it out let's go default to the only superpower left over. The jealousy factor with a lot of people is overwhelming. Don't blame me because you've got problems and the gov is taking 65% of your paycheck. The people of the world in most cases created their own problems and I for one won't be held responsible for people who would rather blame their neighbor across the atlantic pond than changing their own situation.

Would never call anyone a liar Oriphus it just seems hard to believe even per capita. Where did you hear or read it? I also thought there was a hand gun ban in Canada.

I started this thread so it's about time I contributed.
I like America and Americans. Wouldn't mind moving there but it's the guns issue that keeps putting me off.
And let's face it, if it wasn't for the U.S.A, we here in the U.K. would have been invaded long ago. You are carrying the biggest stick and as long as we've got you to back us up we can act all hard on the world's stage.
Oh yeah, and Tony Blair's a nob.
