DVD Shrink copied over MPEG files

Ok, here's a weird one. I've been using DVD Shrink for a while now, and have had no problems. On the last few rips however, it seems to have taken the movie, and somehow encoded into mpeg, and over-written some existing MPEG movies I had on a different hard drive partition.
Here's a more complete description of what I've been doing:
- DVD Shrink 3.1 on Win2k
- ripping DVDs to a drive partition (F:)
- MPEGs stored in drive partition (G:)
- rip DVD "Stop Making Sense" - burn backup and delete
- segments of DVD movie now exist in G: drive as MPEGs
- rip "Mystic River".
- segments of Mystic River now replaced Stop Making Sense segments
- rip "Enemy at the Gate" - burn backup and delete
- 4 mpeg segments exist and have replaced Mystic River ones
I've now set the MPEGs as "read-only", and perhaps that will stop this from happening, but it seems really weird. Any comments appreciated.

So the destination folder you set in Shrink is something other than where it's overwriting your files and it's overwriting them anyway?

Yes. Typically I am putting the DVD Shrink files into a F:\{movie name} directory, and my other MPEGs are in G:\. And it's not like they are the DVD video files, but they seem to be actual MPEGs (I'm watching an "Enemy at the Gates" clip right now in RealPlayer). The DVD Shrink files do get copied to the correct directory however.
Crazy, huh?

Woah.
So the files get copied to two directories?

Well, almost. The .ifo, .VOB, .bup and video_ts files get copied to the correct directory. What gets copied to a different directory, is a few segments of MPEGs. It's not the exact same thing is getting copied into two different places.

That is the single most bizarre thing I've ever heard of Shrink doing.
Have you tried reinstalling Shrink?

I'll try re-installing Shrink, but now that I've set "read-only" on all my MPEGs, it may not occur again. I'll update this post when I try it.

Ok... after a long break, I tried it again and it is still doing it. Here are the changes I made:
- unistalled version 3.1X
- installed version 3.2
- moved the video files to a new folder on F:
- set "read only" on all video files (MPEG and AVI)
Yet it still managed to overwrite 5 MPEGs with some Kill Bill Vol. 2 clips.
What I did next is to set the drive to copy the video files to as C: (instead of the previous F: drive). This seems to have stopped the behaviour, and after ripping Hellboy, the video files seem ok.
Inexplicable eh?
