I am having problems with ABC, I have NO firewall active however ABC still shows my torrents as yellow (current torrent file I'm downloading has 480 seeds and 1400 peers availible), I'm getting max d/l speed of 10kB/s. I have an internal ADSL PCI card with a 512/256 Broadband connection.
The thing is, it all worked a couple of months ago (ABC showed green) until I reformatted my harddrive and reinstalled windows. Does anybody know what could be wrong?

this is happening an awful lot around now! In a lot of cases its isps trying to limit the use of P2P networks! it could also be that XP installation changed your TCP/IP settings to default. For optimal speeds, read http://www.speedguide.net

Thanks for a quick responce!
Have looked at the site you recommend - very interesting site.
I used there optermiser tool however it makes no difference to my bittorrents.
Cant seem to find anything else on the site that will help me.
Any other ideas anyone!?

I'd say it could be down to your ISP then, was it a long period of time there that u werent using BT?

Not really, ABC was working one week, reformatted and reinstalled, didn't try ABC for about a week, but when I did I was when I noticed the difference.

When you re-installed its hardly possible that the Windows Firewall was automatically switched on? Thats if you are using XP?

I've just discovered that even though I have no firewall active the Shields Up!! website test tells me that 6881-6889 are all found to be in stealth mode - how can this be? Is this part of the problem I'm experencing with ABC?

Yes definately! Im starting to think more along the lines of ISP blocking now to be honest! If they limited the use of the ports, a scan would show them as being in stealth mode.

Ok, I have spoken to my isp and they have recently changed the way they price there packages, my package no longer has p2p ports open. I will have to upgrade my package to open these ports. Wish they had informed me, would have saved myself and others alot of wasted time trying to work out the problem! Thanks for all you help.

There's probably a way around that mate, like em, using a program to change the traffic to http traffic or something, I know there are a few around!

Are you able to advise me what package to use, or would that be rule breaking?!

Do the stealth ports automatically show up in a simple Port scan test. Hmm.. let's say I did a port scan on www.dslreports.com, would it show the ports that are blocked.
If you guys have any other better port tests, would you mind giving me the link for it? I think I might try a port test of my own. I don't think my Rogers ISP is being honest with me ;)
I seem to get over 300kbs with direct downloads over the internet, but on mIRC, even with bots that have over 2Mpbs limit, I only get around 100-200kbs at best. Usually only 80kbs.

ToiletMan - I've been using shields up!! http://www.grc.com/default.htm
From the look of things HTTP Tunnel costs about 5 US Dollars a month for basic package, of course cost goes up the more data you transfer. Would work out cheaper in my instance to just upgrade my package.

Ye i guess! There must be a program out there somewhere though that can get passed the limitations! One idea for example is try changing your IP address! Most ISP's dont have rules against changing your IP Address which is funny since a lot of ISP often use IP Addresses to put restrictions on users! For example, someone with an upgraded package might go offline, u take their IP and goodbye limitation. When they try to connect, the ISP should Dynamically choose another IP for them!

Yes, If you look under the heading 'Hot Spots'you will see ShieldsUP! Proceed through the link and you can then enter the ports you want to scan and select 'User Specified Custom port probe.'

I did a scan of "FileSharing" on ShieldsUP!
And it gave me this.
Your Internet port 139 does not appear to exist!
Unable to connect with NetBIOS to your computer.
Anyone mind explaining to me what problems I have? The description wasn't very clear.
P.S. I cut out the descriptions.

"From the standpoint of the passing probes of any hacker, this machine does not exist on the Internet"
You have no problems, You are most likely behind a firewall which is why ShieldsUp cant see port 139 or your NetBIOS.
